Another car post (sorry) How do you go about selling a car??
Never done it before...Don't want weird people knowing where I live etc...I need help..TIA

Oh... gotcha.
My friend sold her VW by putting ads in the newspaper and meeting potential buyers at a park&ride. She already had it parked there with a for sale sign on it too. Maybe if people call who are interested you and DH can meet them somewhere instead of them coming to your house?
ETA: I think some car dealerships will let you trade in your car even if it's a different make... i'd check with them first to see if that's an option.

ususally they will trade it in with a different car. it might be less than it is worth. find out the value first and have you ever been in an accident reported on carfax then the selling price will be lower.

Kath, I had parked my car on a busy road, no calls..well, ONE!
Then placed in Newsday, sold it that weekend it was posted and got exactly what we asked.
Worth paying the $85 for Newsday.
FYI: Trade ins dont have to be the same make. Ask if they will look at VW and see what they offer.

Is there CarMax in NY? They have new and used cars. They will take your trade-in even if you don't buy a car from them.
In 2001, DH traded in his Nissan Maxima (which needed $3K work of work) and got $5K for it. He ended up buying a 1999 Honda CR-V with only 13K miles on it. He was able to put the $5K as a down payment.

I just got a new honda over the weekend, and they took my mazda trade. When I bought my mazda, they took my chevy trade.. so I don't think it matters

youll sell your car in 2 weeks guaranteed in Newsday
i had a crappy vw jetta and i sold it sooo fast in newsday.

DH has been very lucky selling his car on craigslist, and also ebay, but ebay takes a while to set up.....I would def do craigslist and newsday or the pennysaver...
