And The Fertilization Report Is In...
I am dying with excitement.
Out of 17 eggs retrieved, 14 of them were mature.
Out of the 14 mature eggs, 8 fertilized!!!
My doctor said statistically with ICSI (we have SEVERE male factor infertility) they hope to get 50% to fertilize which would be 6-8 of the 14. We got 8! YEA! YEA! YEA!
He did also explain now out of those 8 "usually" 50% are of good quality (we hope). So maybe 4 will be good..maybe more. What was all of your expereinces with your numbers and quality?
I plan on transferring back 2. I can only hope even 4 are of good quality and we have two extras to freeze.
I am crying with excitement!

Good luck! When is your transfer, 3 or 5 days after retrieval?

Ok, so then 8 is good in your opinion out of 14?
And you have 4 out of 7 good ones? When do you get the gradig report? SO I hope to get 4 or 5 out of our 8 that are of good quality.
As for 3 or 5 days.. As of now, 3..it's Wednesday. But they said I can get a call on Wed morning to come in five days instead. What determines that?

congratulations on having 8 fertilize. as for the difference between the 3 or 5 day transfer it depends on if the embryos look like they will survive outside of your uterus for another 2 more days then they will do a 5 day transfer. this way they will only put back the best embryos. embryos that survive outside your uterus until a 5dt have a better chance of implantation

They initially fertilized then arrested/ weren't high enough quality to freeze.

Sounds great. We also have severe MF. I had 28 eggs retrieved 18 fertilized and 7 made it to 5 day blasts. We transferred two and I have a beautiful 9 week old DD. There rest were not able to be frozen though
