i love DD, of course, and am working ~2 sometimes 3 days/wk. (DH and I own our own business...i did freelance on my own before DD). After DD was born, I gave up all of my freelance and those positions are no longer available. But I get cabin fever and want to go back to work fulltime. Of course, the job market isn't what it was and I probably couldn't even find work that easily. I just miss working and making my own $$ and it drives me crazy. Anything that involves needing extra $$ stresses me out. When I spend all day at home, I can't help feeling guilty for not working. When DH comes home I start fights for no reason (not his fault since he worked all day). Maybe it is the weather keeping me couped up indoors, but I am not happy. At one point I thought I might even have PPD. After a long day working, though, I actually feel better. I am probably in the minority, but I just had to vent

You are definitely not alone. I felt this way when I was on maternity leave. I wound up going back to work a week early because I felt like I needed to get that piece of myself back. I love DD, but a day at home with her is more difficult than a day at work for me. It has gotten better with time, but I think some people really just need to have other things in their lives besides their kids. Good luck finding something. I know that the job market is tough right now.

YOu are not alone at all. Girls at work talk about how they wish they could stay home all day with their kids and I feel like a horrible mom because I know staying at home is just not for me. I wish I didn't have to work 5 full days a week but I would definitely want to work like 3-4 days a week. Staying at home with DD is so hard and like you I feel like I need something just for myself and right now that is work. I love DD and I miss her during the day but for me, going to work makes me a better mom.
