Am I crazy...

We were thinking of going to Florida for easter. We go every year. To see my brother and Mikes family. I asked my friend if she could house and pet sit for me and Id pay her and she said no problem and I dont need to pay her


I know Rudy will be in good hands with her. She has 3 cats and a 100 pound Golden Retriever. Any time she comes over she gives rudy so much love and calls him her boyfriend. I told her it could be like a mini vacation away from her parents LOL. I also told her her sister could stay here!

BUT why do I feel so bad and guilty About leaving him


I just found REALLY CHEAP airfare and I wont even book it cause I feel bad.

This same exact thing happened to me last year.
Before we went looking for a puppy, I had asked my mom and dad if we did get one could they watch it, cause we were going to Florida for a surprise party (that we could not cancel) in March - this was January that we went looking for a puppy. My parents said sure.
Well, we got Casey and I thought it would be easy to leave, well the week before we were to leave I was a mess!! I kept saying I couldn't leave her. DH was all ready to drive down to Florida (I think he was feeling the same way). I was sad, but we left her home, I knew she was in great hands. And everything was fine - besides the couple of bathroom accidents she had on my parents new rug
We had the same dilemma this year - we decided to take her and drove down. It is soooo hard, it is like leaving your child.

We just had to go away for a weekend in November and I totally stressed. DH thought I was going to cancel at the last minute...I didn't and she was fine. Besides, she was extra happy when we got home

And, your pic's of Rudy are awesome...I think I like the laundry basket best.

Thanks girls. Hes just so darn cute. And he get sad when we leave the house forget about going away. It would only be for a long weekend. Leave Sat. night come home tuesday night so its not even like that long.

I guess once I get there and call to check up on him (6 times) the first night. I will feel a little better

OH MY GOD!!!!!!

Don't feel guilty!! Take advantage of feeling that you have someone you can trust to stay with Rudy. You will miss him, feel guilty, call a millions times, etc!!!! But go and enjoy!!!

PS: I would insist the friend take some $$ even if it's something small because it is a responsibility more than a friendly favor and I'd want it to have a "reward" (I can't think of a better word) attached to the "job".

You are not crazy at all! We went away for a week on a Caribbean cruise and left Denver at home with my brother, who house sat for the week. I called or e-mailed every day, cried a lot, and missed him like crazy. When we came back, Denver was happy as could be and whenever my brother comes over, he gets super excited to see him. Even knowing that, if we go away again, I will still be sad to leave. It is very hard

Well I booked the tickets. We are going Friday-Tuesday. My friend said it would be no problem but because im on crack im still so worried. I dont think my parents are going to go so my dad is going to stop by the house everyday while my friend is at work.
