I have given Claritin but I don't remember the outcome of it. Zrytec made my DD drowsy so I would give it maybe an hour or two before bedtime that way he isn't so groggy the next day. Also, you will have to use it continuously to see some results.

Our ped said specifically Zyrtek...I forget her reasons but I did question her on it.

Unfortunitely it really isnt doing Lexi any good this season. We started the allergy medicine before she started having any symptoms. She takes a dose every day...

We've now even started a stronger allergy med that is prescription and it's doesnt appear to be helping her at all..

Out of curiosity, when giving it to your DD at night, how long did the allergy symptoms stay relieved ? Was it just overnight relief , or did it last a full 24 hours until the following dose??

Reason I as is because my DS's allergies seem to get worse shortly after he wakes up , its pretty bad throughout the day and then by nightime they subside * for all I know thats norm for allergiesChat Icon )

My ped. said that it starts to wear off after 22 hours so I think you will be ok. She wasn't as groggy when I gave it night. When I gave it to her during the day she was always so tired and really didn't want to do much of anything.
