Allergic reaction to PIO shots

I am having an allergic reaction to the PIO injections after being on them for 4 weeks. My butt started to get itchy Friday afternoon. Saturday was worse and by Sunday I had hives on both cheeks around the injection sites. Some of my welts are the size of quarters. Ouch!

I called the RE's office yesterday and the NP told me to use warm compresses and Benadryl cream until I can get there for a bloodtest on Tuesday (they weren’t scheduling patients today because of the snow). In the meantime, I have to keep on doing the shots. They think I am fine to come off, but want to double-check. We injected my thigh last night to give my butt a rest… BOY did that hurt!!!

I know it is a small price to pay for my miracle, but it is annoying. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to stop typing so I can go scratch my arse.

Yikes! Can they switch you to suppositories? Hope you feel better soon!

You can ask them if you can switch to a different PIO. What kind of oil is your PIO in??? Most of the time its sesame oil but there are alternatives that you can try.

I went for blood today and it turns out I am making plenty of progesterone on my own. Thank God.

No more shots for me!

Great news!!! Have you had a sono yet? BTW, was there peanut oil in the PIO, I know my pills have a big warning on them about peanut allergies and not taking them.
