All this talk of buying baby items has me thinking, what are the odds of level 2 showing a girl, could be wrong?

Ok, so...since many of us are buying furniture, etc... It is a bit scary. What are the odds of a level 2 indicating a girl being wrong? What were you told by the tech doing it re this?

The tech did mine and it was a side profile of the private parts. So she said "It's a GIRL... but... with girls you never know a peesh could be hiding in some angles". But then the dr came in and also did it, and got another view (legs pulled to the chest) and there was almost nowhere a peesh could have been hiding. The dr told me she could say "almost with certainty, other than an amnio, that it's a girl." I saw the screen, and it looked like a girl to me (I have seen baby girl/boy sono pics online) too. But it still occasionally nags in the back of my mind, esp when it comes to the big purchases.

So for those of us told it's a girl, did they give odds to you or what did they say?

I know 2 people this happened to, the first one it was their first, no big deal. The second one it was their 4th dc, 3 boys, they were so happy they were haing a little girl, they even had a shower, the next day they had another sono and saw it was a boy. They were really upset. Now the baby is born and they are fine, but at the time it sucked

Well someone just told me a story the other day about someone who was told girl and it was a boy.

So that freaks me out a little regarding buying things! I am going to try to wait to buy major girl items until another sono at around 28-30 weeks (if my dr will do this for us).

They are mostly right. However I've read that there is a greater chance of being wrong about saying girl because the boy parts sometimes take longer to descend. So if someone has a late-descender boy it can sometimes be mistaken for a girl - not as often the other way around.

Right, that's what the tech told me. That when they say BOY it's pretty much foolproof, but with girls there is always a slight chance they are wrong due to hiding peeshies. The dr told me she was "certain, as much as she could say that without the amnio, that it's a girl".

Yet I still hope my dr will do one more sono before I buy my furniture b/c I don't know if I would choose it for a boy.

well, for a girl, you really need a money shot (camera angle looking up from the feet to the parts) if you see 3 lines, then it's definitely girl... but if it's on an angle, a leg is covering.... Chat Icon

our level II said 'boy', but Scone was very coy. cord between the legs, and made evasive maneuvers. so our money shot was a super brief blip on the screen. I THINK I saw boy parts, but it was so fast......

I can't wait until a growth sono to confirm everything Chat Icon

I have been so paranoid about this because EVERYONE thought I was having a boy. At 35 weeks I went to BBB and some lady looked at me and goes "Oooohhh!!!!! You're having a boy right?!??!?!" I wanted to scream. Even when I tell people 3 sonos said girl they still like to laugh at the thought of it coming out a boy. Not funny.

Anyway, sorry for the mini rant but I know how you feel. I had it confirmed though and I believe they are pretty darn accurate at the time of the level 2. Did you see the lines? here are my girl shots. First one at 18 weeks second one at 33

i was super concerned about this too, b/c I've heard this happens...and we found out it was a girl at 18weeks...but then it was confirmed again at 26 weeks in another sono with a much better shot than the level II, so I was relieved.

I saw the three lines and when I asked the tech if any boy parts could be hiding, she said the angel was so good of the baby and she could actually point out the girl parts to us.
I am having a 3d sono and hopefully we'll get another picture to confirm!

I'm beyond nervous bc they told me at 12 weeks that its a boy, not the sono tech but the doc coming in after her, and now at my LevelII they checked three times, the sono tech twice saying it was a gilr and the doctor confirming...I htink I want to do a 3d one to be sure..but I have always had a gut feeling it was a girl..and if its a boy he's going to have a lot of pink clothing to wear as well as a very pink roomChat Icon

For us, at the level 2, the dr got the "money" shot. I saw the 3 lines, looked like a girl to me. Even the pic the tech got, which was a side view, we saw the 3 curves/lines.

I am glad I am not the only one whose mind passes thru! I hope my dr will do another sono at 28 or 30 weeks to be more sure.

Rant away!!! IJ don't blame you for being frustrated when people say that.

I can't see the 3 lines on here, but I am sure you can see them in the original pics. I personally did see them also in my level 2, but would like one more sono to confirm!
