totally depends on your type of heat & the way your system is set up. Usually it is a pretty big deal, not huge money but not cheap either.
a plumber/heating pro would need to see what you have to tell you for sure.

Re: Adding another heating zone

We are going to add another heating zone (basement) this summer. My dad, and DH will be putting in all of the pipes and my dad's friend (excellent handyman) will be doing the connection to the boiler. From what I have heard them discuss it doesn't seem like a big process.

I don't know about cost b/c we don't pay for labor but I know copper pipes have gone up dramatically since last spring. In the fall we converted the main level of our house from radiator to baseboards and pipes went up by $10 each! Chat Icon

We added a heating zone as part of a home improvement project and it really wasn't that big a deal. It was only for 1 room, though. It was time consuming but I don't remember it being overly expensive but I'd have to check. My dad added an extra zone for 1 room to his house so if your DH or family members are handy it can be done without hiring someone.

Re: Adding another heating zone

we just did this recently for our Den and it cost us about $900 for the addition. But we also did this addition while we were converting to our new gas heating system. This was the extra amount he charged for adding the pipes, therostat and baseboards for one room.
