A word of advice when turning on your heat!
I broke down today and decided to flick the switch for the heat. We have oil. I turned it on and after 5 minutes it started to come up. I knew to check the burner in the basement because my dad used to show me everything- he was a shop teacher b4 he reitred and made his 2 girls learn certain things so we never had to relay on a man... so there I am showing my DH how to check around the burner, pressure on it, etc. And I look down and there is smoke! We closed everything off IMMEDIATELY and called the oil company- they came a few hours later and it turned out we had the beginning of a "back puff" , needed a new tranformer and a pump. I get my burner serviced every year. So , please be extra careful when turning on your system for the cold weather. I am glad it is all fixed and no one got hurt .
