This angered me, but it could be I was just cranky. I may be completely wrong, some may not agree with me, and I can accept that.. I see the other side..but this bugged me.

Every year, as a family, we go out and pick ornaments for each of us to represent what we were "all about" that year. And then we pick one that represents us as a unit. We usually go to Port Jeff for this, but we figured, let's look here.

So, we swung into the Christmas store on the 2nd floor.

DS saw some car ornaments and went to touch one, and within seconds, 2 associates stood right behind him, about to grab it out of his hand. They had that stance with their hands out, leaning forward position, KWIM?

I was just saying, "Don't touch, it's a breakable, let's be gentle and just look with our eyes."

I get it. He's a kid. It could break. I get it.

But, get the hell off of us.

They wouldn't stop hovering over our shoulders as we continued looking. They didn't ask if we needed help or if we needed them to reach something for us. Nothing. Not a word. Just hovered. So annoying.

I finally said to DH, "Let's leave. The people here feel the need to breathe down our necks." DH agreed.

So, we left. It felt so uncomfortable. I'd rather them say to my son, "You're cute, I bet your excited for Santa..let's be careful" or something.

Vent over.

I have no patience for people like that.

Hm. That would totally turn me off.

And it's funny, cuz I took DD last week with NO INTENTION of buying anything. She grabbed a basket and started putting stuff in it. (Nothing breakable). I let her go to town. When we were ready to leave, she put everything back in it's place. Twice we were asked if we needed help, I said no, and they left us alone.

The store was pretty empty, not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I guess it depends on who is working.

SO annoying.

I went with my sister into NY&Co a couple of weeks ago. I had DD with me- 15 months old. She is SO well-behaved, and was just walking around & looking. I was following her. She found the jewelry display. She was touching a necklace, literally just had her finger on it, and this old bat that worked there came over and started in on me on how delicate the jewelry is and how DD going to strangle herself, etc. She made it like DD was flinging the stuff all over the place. She kept going on and on, getting closer to DD until I said- "relax, lady, i'm not going to let her ruin your display"Chat Icon

I walked out of the store and won't go back. I could understand where she was coming from if my DD was going beserk, but give me a freaking break.

Chat Icon I'm glad I am not the only one!! But, geez...... You think they would expect tons of little kiddies in there...they could have had a little table set up with cheapo crayons and paper to color or something if they are THAT concerned, KWIM? wow..

Weird..I even thought after, maybe a kid had just broken a ton of ornaments before we walked in, so they were being extra cautious or something. Maybe it does depend on what manager is on duty, too.

I was just there last night with DD... she was in the stroller so maybe that had something to do with it...

They did come right up and ask us if we needed help looking for something, very attentive, and then he kind of stood over us while we were looking at the selection. I honestly thought maybe he was a little OCD, but he was very nice and polite.

Then I told him that we would be back b/c Carlie started screaming, and he said ok... Have a Merry Christmas...

IDK... maybe something just might have happened...

Sorry you had such a bad experience, I love going there for my ornaments each year!
