A Nice Story (kinda long, sorry)
Today I was in a store in Lynbrook looking around with my sister and DD. They had nice home decorations and baby stuff. I started talking to a woman shopping who complimented me on DD. Anyway I was looking at Willow Tree figurines and liked one for myself. (first picture)
But instead I got a keepsake box for my friend who is due with a baby boy in October. (second picture)
This woman and I spoke about a few things, babies, weight watchers, etc. I continued looking around the store and when I was ready to check out she asked if I was getting the angel with baby figure for myself and I said no, I didn’t want to get it for myself, I would rather it be a gift from someone. I just didn’t want to get I myself, KWIM? So she says, I am getting it for you!! I said no, no really (a few times) but she insisted, and said, “Just say thank you” and so finally I did.
I was so touched by her thoughtfulness and kindness, and now have a wonderful story to tell DD about how kind people can be.
I told her I must know her name to thank her correctly – and she told me. I asked if she lived in Lynbrook – no, Malverne. Oh that’s where I grew up! Long story long, our moms are friends!! And I used to sing with the church choir with her mom. It was quite a coincidence.
But the moral of the story is – people can be incredibly kind, and sometimes we forget that. Today I saw a great example of that kindness…
