a new oil tank...

we are gonna need one.
I would rather do it now before we are up against the wall in say February. IT could potentially last another couple of years, but we already had a problem and we didn't even turn the heat on yet.

Suggestions? How much is this gonna cost? Any recs?

Re: a new oil tank...

Not exactly sure on cost - I can ask DH because he does hvac on the side.

But, do you have the ability to have gas heat in your home?
Converting to a gas system now would be a few thousand (I *think* keyspan offers rebates).
Heating your home w/ gas is sooo much more efficent.
Will save you so much $$ in the long run.

We got a new tank, through Lewis Oil. Cost us $1500...they were great. No complaints.

Re: a new oil tank...

My parents oil tank is in their basement. One day my mom smelled oil down there and sure enough, they had a leak! They have Petro for oil service, they came in less than 2 hours to clean up the leak, take the leaking tank out, put a temp tank in, and ordered them a brand new tank. The new tank was installed in less than 10 days after that. My parents can't say enough about how great they were to deal with.

I should add that since my parents use Petro as their oil supplier, they had a contract with them should anything go wrong and they were so happy they did.

Who delivers your oil and do you have a service contract through them?
