A little personal but did any of your take extra money above the selling price on you mortgage for home improvements?

what we did was take an extra line of credit, in case we needed it for anything. we haven't used it yet, and we're not sure if we will, but we figured at least it was there in the event that we needed something. it isn't included in our mortgage payment though. it's a separate thing altogether. hope this helps!!
