My father used to own his own CAC/heating company, so I know a lot of people in the business. I can give you a REALLY GOOD recommendation, but I know he only does homes on the side right now... let me find out for you if he has the time and I'll let you know.

Re: Anyone with CAC installation recs?

there is a difference between traditional CAC and hi velocity. Hi velocity, the air moves at a higher rate therefore leaving less chance for allergens to settle in the duct work. Your duct work doesn't need to be cleaned yearly as it does with traditional CAC. Also, the ductwork is WAY smaller and can be retrofit into older homes. It's also MUCH quieter than traditional CAC.
Many hospitals and retirement homes use it because of the convenience of the small ductowork and quieter environment. This particular companys' air handlers (the unit INSIDE) is compatible with ANY condenser unit (the unit outside). The only 2 donwfalls are:
it can be more expensive to INSTALL, but in the long run ends up more energy efficient and cheaper than traditional a/c. Also, the duct work tends to be more energy efficient that what NY state requires, which is good for you.
#2: it's not zonable, if you want to zone, you need separate units.
We repped one company in particular called Spacepak. Check out their website if you can understand the lingo. If you are interested, FM me and I'll give you the number to my old job and I'll get someone to either send you more info & get you an installer in your area.
