$60K drop in price!
DH and I went to an open house in Sayville over the summer and the price just dropped $60,000!

I don't think so... DH and I are not in the market anymore.
here is the house
we saw it in July and it was $439K
ETA: not sure why the pics are so blurry. it's a nice house with an awesome deck in the back. big master bedroom too.

2 brothers currently own it. they have a whole bunch of Harley's in the garage

Yeah, there's a HUGE price difference. And the beginning of 07 will be even lower. That's what I think anyway.

Yeah, there's a HUGE price difference. And the beginning of 07 will be even lower. That's what I think anyway.
just for the heck of it, I just checked the town in Nassau that my folks live in. last time I checked, there was not 1 house for sale for under $400K, not the case anymore.
I just wonder - how low will it go?

recently Commack - which hasnt had much under $400K - has quite a few houses.
all the areas i am looking in are dropping - one house in East Setauket went from $449 to $399 and there still isnt much interest. the agent was practically begging FH and I to make an offer. 
we didnt see one other couple when we went to 5 open houses last weekend.

That's awesome. I hope this continues! DH thought I was crazy when I was looking at houses that were 50k over our limit. I told him that they would go doooooown and that we're not paying asking price anyway.
Now he's eating his words.

the problem is when we are deciding on a house- another house that we like falls into our price range - theres no pressure to make a bid bc there are so many houses - and we have time - we really want to be in contract by march - so we have all winter

the other houses in S. Setauket dont look like that - and those taxes are NUTS for that area - but it does have an IG pool.
im not a fan of the "modern" looking houses.

Anything that's unique I'll take a second look at. I think it's a product of growing up in Levittown, where all the houses started out in 1 of 2 styles.

I wish the prices would drop that much in Queens. The cheapest houses in my neighborhood are going for $429 and they look like crap. The owners have not dropped the price at all.

My house is kind of set up like that. The den is to the right of the garage. There is a hallway that runs inside the house behind the entrance to the laundry room(which used to be part of the garage
