1st time mommy..need some newborn help.....

Hello Ladies..my son is three weeks old and was born prematurly at 34 1/2 weeks. He was in the NICU for a week for treatment of jaunduce. I still see some yellowish tint to his skin and some in the whotes of his eyes. He is eating well and very alert so my question is ...mommies who had jaundice babies..how long did it last? I heard in premies it could be more prominent and last up to 6 weeks....he goes to the doctor tomorrow so I plan on talking to him about it then but I was wondering if anyone else experiences the same thing?

Emma wasnt a premie but she was a bit jaundice. It lasted about a week with her. Since he is eating that should flush the extra billirubins outChat Icon

My son was a premie and his jaundice lasted a while. Have the Dr check his level with a blood test and they should be watching his level to make sure it is not rising.

Good Luck!

My DD as born at 35 weeks and was jandice. It slowly decreased each day but lasted a while. Put the baby infront of a window if you can. Sunlight helps bring the bilirubin down. Also, make such he is drinking enough so he pees out the bili.
