What was your biggest wedding rip-off?

Not necessarily something you wish you didn't buy or in retrospect, something you didn't need- but RIP-OFF...

Mine was my bouquet. I had a florist in NJ do our bouquets and church decorations.

I paid $200 in 2004 for my bouquet. Girls getting married NOW and getting bigger/better from high end florists and are paying way less than I did.

Re: What was your biggest wedding rip-off?

mine was similar to yours- but all white- and I paid more then $200 for it

my flowers were very expensive- but I always wanted white flowers in the middle of December

but I don't feel ripped off about anything

Mine were just roses, not even 2 dozen, and stephanotis.

The whole thing was dead by the end of the night- stephanotis were completely wilted- all you could see were the pearls

Re: What was your biggest wedding rip-off?

Aside from feeling that pretty much everything is overpriced for weddings, I didn't think any one thing in particular was a rip off. well, maybe the alterations on my dress, since they weren't cheap and they were terrible.

I was pretty thrifty with the spending though. Chat Icon

I am not sure how many roses I had- I think at least 2 dozen- and the stephanotis -

I just checked a pic- I had other white flowers in there also- cala lillies I think

I think mine was $250 or $300- and that was with a discount- ( one of my BM was friends with the guy- but he was a super high end florist- I didn't realize at the time)

Video, followed by photos.

I can't stand to watch it, because I know that, for the rest of my life, I'll get angry and curse the video guy and company when instead of seeing me put DH's ring on his finger, my video shows the floor. Chat Icon

Not only did I pay these people, I tipped the video guy on our wedding day. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ignored my Do Not Play list

That would have made me crazy. If I even heard the first few notes of the macarena or the chicken dance I would have marched right over to my DJ.

Re: What was your biggest wedding rip-off?

Our biggest wedding rip-off was staying at the Garden City Hotel for our wedding night. There was nothing special about the room, the toilet got backed up 3 times, we got charged for our free breakfast and when we called to check out, they took 45 minutes to come get our stuff and we finally brought it down on our own (me with my gown and DH's tux etc).

I wish we had stayed somewhere cheaper and closer to our parents' houses for the brunch my mom had.

My makeup. I should have had my MOH do it and saved a lot.

My florist. She $ucked and was very popular on LIW. With only two weeks to go I had to hire a back up florist. Thank God, I didn't have a bridal party, only had 10 tables, but still an extra $800 just to make sure I had flowers at allChat Icon

Re: What was your biggest wedding rip-off?

My photographer.

He was a royal a$$. He didn't get any of the speific shots we had asked for, he insulted me, my family and many of our guests, disappeared for 45 minutes at the begining of the reception. My mother, the MOTHER OF THE BRIDE, had to go find him. He was on the phone in the parking lot in his car.

We only got about 100 decent pics from him. Thank god we hired a photojournalist as well who got another 700 pics. Most of the pics we chose for our album were from the photojournalist.

Such a waste of $6500.

Same here

I just got my proofs back and my hair looks like it does everyday of the year for me.

I had loose curls and we went out for pictures, it was soooo windy and by the time we were done my bridesmaids had to redo my entire hair in the bridal suite. It doesn't even look like I had it done

OMG me too! mine was a cascading bok and had about 30 roses with the stephanotis...dead by morning! i think cause it was so hot on my wedding day so i couldnt really blame the florist. cant do anything about it now, at least it looked pretty in the pictures! Chat Icon

Re: What was your biggest wedding rip-off?

I have to say that I was very thrifty when it came to spending money - and boy did I do my homework. The only money that we wasted was renting out a banquet room at the hotel after the wedding. It was only $200 but it was a complete waste - eveyone was so tired from the wedding that they just crashed....no after party for usChat Icon

ETA: That was my fault, and not a rip off.

i should add.... we were VERY economical with our wedding... so i didnt feel like i overpaid for anything, BUT, evenif i paid my photographer 5 bucks and gave him a piece of gum, i still would've felt like i got ripped off! Chat Icon Chat Icon

My flowers... they were nice enough as far as colors but not $2,000 or whatever we paid nice. My florist was a con artist. Chat Icon

Re: What was your biggest wedding rip-off?

My photographer!! He was horrible. I'm under the conclusion that all the albums we saw at his office were not his. Along with the fact that I'll be married 9 years in July and still don't have a wedding album! That's another story fro another time!!!!

For my sister it had to be the florist. I wonder if it's the same lady some of you other girls are talking about. My sister was on LIW while planning here wedding. The flowers were crap. They were pretty colors but not put together well at all. By the time we got to the reception which was only an hour and a half after her ceremony, myself and 2 other BM bouquets fell apart.

My DJ Chat Icon

They were a VERY popular DJ (on LIF) and EVERYYY TIME I go with "whats hot" and not worry about the money, I regret it and DO realize that as I had originally thought, "its all the hype and nothing else" Chat Icon

they were a bunch of shmucks. Had NOOOO clue what a few popular songs were, I gave them MY cd's labeled and details of what to play when, I had to keep reminding them of things.
also a simple request for the hot potato game to give away the centerpiece, the guy was like huh?Chat Icon

I gave them a FULL HONEST review back on LIF Chat Icon
WAYYY Over-rated and not worth a dime.

Hmmm... I just think everything wedding related is so expensive.

I loved all my vendors, especially Laura from LA Productions and Jacqueline Nicole. (I am actually friends with them now because of my wedding.)
