Re: Mommies I need your honest opinions!

I would have no problem going to a bridal shower on Mother's Day.

Mother's Day doesn't have to be an all day affair. I have felt the honor of beign a mother since the day Jordana was born. I don't need a whole day to celebrate it. We usually have brunch or dinner together with the whole family. Even after I became a mother, that was all that was important to me- a few minutes of recognition with my family.

But my family is very casual about these things. For her first mother's day, my sister asked her DH to run all her errands with her as her gift. DH didn't even feel the need to do anything for father's day. I made him breakfast in bed and got him a framed picture of Jordana for his office and he said that was enough.

Re: Mommies I need your honest opinions!

It guess it depends really on a)the person having the shower and b) whether or not I already had Mother's Day plans. This year, Mother's Day was very busy for me. First I celebrated with DH, then went to visit my mother, then went to visit MIL, so fitting a shower into all of that would be difficult. If it was somebody very important to me though, I'd comprimise and at least show up for a little bit.

Off the bat I have to say no way and that's how I voted. But of course if it was someone very close to me I would go. I wouldn't be happy about it, but I'd go.

On the flipside...if I was the bride, I wouldn't want my shower to be on Mother's Day.

I would have to say no, it is hard enough to balance seeing my mom, MIL and taking some time for myself with my daughter.

It wouldn't bother me. I would go & make plans to celebrate later.

It would bother a lot of people I know. Mainly because often that day, you have a hard enough time splitting it between new moms, your mom & MILs, not to mention those that lost their mom.
