Just give them a call and ask, I know my SIL got a discount because of her profession.

Hi El!!!

Yup, I'm, bella123's SIL and she's rigth, I got a huge discount because of professional courtesy. I called them up and told them what i do for a living, the Boards that I sit on and the certifications that I have and they took lots of $ off of the initial stroage fee and yearly fee. Just give them a call.

Re: cordblood question Dree

First I called Viacord and they only give a small discount ($200 off) unless you or your spouse are in the childbirth profession (nurse, OB etc). But Life Banks USA gives dicount to a more wide range of professions. They charged us a total of $500. I didn't see it advertised anywhere...I had to call and ask. I never would have known without LIFamilies. Can't rememeber who posted the info but I am grateful!

Really, only $200 discount with Viacord, I got alot more than that maybe because I'm on a few "tumor boards" at work and I'm part of the Red Cross Disaster team and i have worked closely with oncology patients at one time. Strange, I can't remember the exact amount now, but I think the initial fee was around $1000, and then $85 per year for storage.

That's what they told me...I guess they are pretty picky about who they give the discount to? Never hurts to ask though right Chat Icon

Do you have to show them proof??? Would an early Intervention specialist count if you are contracted out through the department of Health? Hmmmmwonder if I should call and ask?

Yes, they need proof, they verified my qualifications and certifications on-line through the websites, you might want to call and ask, early intervention may count! They kept my info from my last pregnancy so this time it was an easy process, and they gave me an extra $100 off beause I am a returning customer!
