Door Lock , rental apartment
My son has been gettting out of my doors
I live in a rental. I had an upper latch that he can climb and open
Please suggest a lock, hopefully easy to install and he cannot open

How old is he? If he can unlock an upper latch, I'm thinking that any other type of lock will start to be illegal. There are building codes for fire safety regarding door locks. You can't have a deadbolt that requires a key on the inside for example.

Can you install a chain or bolt like what hotels use so that when he unlocks the door, the door won't open all the way?

He is 8 years old
I got something called door guardian
from Home Depot and installed it
Hopefully it’s something he can’t open
