So sad - I hope he's able to get better but if not that he'll be comfortable the rest of his days.

Sorry if this sounds callous but he's a senator from Arizona, right? And been elected for decades? If he dies, I wonder who his state will elect - are they hardcore Republican or are there enough people frustrated with the current political climate that they'll vote Dem?

Cancer sucks....

I haven't seen much detail yet about how aggressive it is, what the short-term diagnosis is, other than what his options are, and what the long-term diagnosis is.

At 80 years old, any type of aggressive treatment (surgery or chemo) is going to be extremely tough on him....

It's very sad and a horrible type of cancer. I wonder if this is why his questioning was so erratic during the Comey hearings. Glioblastoma took my uncle five months from diagnosis, and they discovered it after he forgot how to drive home one day. He had to call my aunt from the car and ask her how to get home. My heart sank when I read McCain had this because I have seen how bad it is.

My Grandfather died almost instantly when they found his. He also couldn't remember how to get home. Same day he had a haeart attack they brought him back 3 times. They did an MRI after he was stable a day or 2 and that's when they found the cancer. So They went in to do a biopsy and that Biopsy is what basically killed him. After the Biopsy he came out couldn't speak..then couldn't eat or breathe on his own. Then he came off the all the machines on his own. He was fighting but by then he still couldn't swallow. I wish we never did the biopsy because he was talking, joking and laughing with us all but after the biopsy it took a turn for the worst and he dies 3 weeks late.

Something seemed very "off" about him at the Comey hearings. Perhaps that was a sign that something was going on.

Glioblastoma is horrific; I have seen it ravage young people so I cannot imagine how an 80-year-old will cope. However, as with any cancer patient, it is truly a case-by-case basis so who knows?

Glioblastoma is basically a death sentence. Average life expectancy after diagnosis is 12-18 months. Only 2% of people diagnosed will be alive 2 years after diagnosis. My friend's mother died from this a few years ago, she lived 14 months. It is a horrible way to die, I feel so bad for him and his family.
