If you don't have a yard

How much time per day do you spend walking and excercising your older medium-sized puppy?

If you don't have a yard

We live in an apartment and have a 2 year old 80 lb lab mix. We do a 10 minute walk in the morning, when we come home from work (4pm ish) we spend 20/30 at the dog park in our complex or walk, after dinner I try to get in another 10/15 minute walk. Then we normally bring him out 1 or 2 other times quick just to use the bathroom. Thursday he goes to doggie day camp at petsmart. Plus on weekends when we are at our parents house we gets out in their yard.

When we lived in an apartment we would do (35 lb beagle/hound mix) -

1 hour at the dog park or a 1 hour walk or run in the morning.

She would get a 30 minute walk mid-day.

After work we would do another hour at the park or walk.

Then a quick 15 minute walk before bed.

She would do doggie daycare a few times a month and she would get more exercise on the weekends.

Re: If you don't have a yard

We have 2 larger dogs (90lb and 75lb) who are 7 & 8 years old. They get a 10-15 min walk in the AM, then about 5pm and then about 11pm every day. Some days an extra walk if they're feeling spunky.

We try also to get them up at the dog park at least once a week...though we've been lax about that lately. It seems as they get older, they don't need it as much as when they were pups.

This would be ideal for my dog but I just can't keep up! Do you have a dog walker mid day?

My dog is getting 1.5 hours max total outdoor time (some grazing slow walks and some me jogging with her) on work days. She gets more on weekends when I go to my BFs (had a yard) or the dog park.

We do have a dog walker, though it is really expensive.

Is she very hyper even with 1.5 hours of outdoor walks?

Do you work on training at home? Training tires out dogs as well.

If its rainy or something and my dog is acting up we put her food in a Kong Wobbler, this will tire her out - she has to push it around to get the food out. Or we have some treat dispensing toys that keep her engaged, and then we work on tricks.

We work on training but can only so much at home. I don't make her roll over and lie down. She knows sit and stay. My goal is to let her off leash before 9am in the nearby park but having difficulty she won't come when called the 1st or 2nd time.
To keep her working at home we have a big rope for tug of war and yes I have Kong toys to stuff but that's done within a few minutes. She also had the hard hollow bones that keep her busy up to an hour before bed!

I bought the beggin poppers (looks like a pig and send treats flying). I bring it to the park and he goes nuts running after them and looking for them when they get lost in the grass. They are also great for training to come when called. You can also use any small treats not just the ones that come with it.
Also with the Kong toys that you stuff in I buy natural peanut butter, pumpkin or chicken broth and freeze it so it takes longer.
