Leaving a job that isn't right

If you have a job that you started a few months earlier and you unfortunately know it isn't right for several reasons...there is really no hope of it improving and you realize it was a bad decision and have come to terms with that.....so you determine it is time to start looking what is the best way to handle this? The concern is no one will even call after seeing the resume and wonder why someone would be looking after just a few months.....do you leave it off completely?

HR people, any suggestions?

Hmmmm.....tough one.

I'm leaning to adding it though and focusing on the new skills you have acquired.

And then network like crazy through word of mouth, FB, anything....

Also I know in my field some agencies just have a bad rep so I would not necessarily think there was something wrong with the applicant for wanting to leave.

Agreed with the above poster. We are in a very similar field and it's not uncommon to have a quick turnover. Again add it and focus on new skills. If asked during the interview it's ok to be honest. People appreciate honesty!

Re: Leaving a job that isn't right

I've left a job after 4 months. I hated it and needed out. To be honest, I can't remember if I even had it on my resume at the time I was looking. I know I've definitely taken it off since, and if asked, I just explain that gap honestly. In this economy, it's not uncommon to have a short job here or there, just make sure all your jobs aren't that short!
