Halfway(ish) through summer...how is your's going?

So far, my summer has been jam-packed with three weddings, baby showers, and a christening. And we renovated our kitchen! I guess I should post pics of that on the Home board...one day I'll get around to it.

So any free time we have is pretty much spent in the yard grillin' and chillin'...having friends over and stuff. Gardening. Spraying gallons of Off! on myself with all this time spent outdoors. Heading out to neighborhoods to just explore the shops and restaurants.

DH is currently fasting for Ramadan, so the past couple of weeks (and the next couple of weeks) are going to be pretty low-key. His birthday was Saturday and we spent the day shopping for guitars, his favorite thing to do :) I've fasted for a few days along with DH, it's not easy but it definitely makes you thankful for what you have in life, especially water. (Muslims don't even have water throughout the day while they fast...sunrise to sunset...it's a bit brutal in the summer heat)

Haven't been to many concerts this summer. We might go to see CAKE in Brooklyn on Friday...not sure about that yet...Peter Murphy (of Bauhaus) is playing a show at a beer garden in Brooklyn, and we're going to that...I'm really hoping to see Peter Gabriel at Jones Beach in September...I love him!

We're hosting a big party for Eid (the holiday at the end of Ramadan) at our house in a couple weeks...should be interesting!

I'll tell ya one thing...being CF by choice in the summer is like the best thing ever. Just pick up and go do whatever the heck you want to do, whenever the heck you want to do it. :) Drinking in the yard at 11 a.m. on a Sunday? Okay! Check out a new restaurant on a random Wednesday night? Okay!

Sounds like you guys are having a ball! Summer is my favorite time of year!!

Dh wants to see jimmy buffet at jones...im not so into it but i took him to the Wall at Yankee Stadium and he's not such a PF fan but he went. So ill go

We've been to the beach almost every weekend, last minute mini golf, heading to lake george in 2weeks with friends, out to the vineyards, i went to see The Best Man (adore!!!!!!!! Rip Gore Vidal!). My family from FL will be up next week and we're having a big party.

Halfway(ish) through summer...how is your's going?

The summer has been busy for DH and I. We moved from NY to CA (still getting settled, actually waiting for the movers to arrive). I accepted an amazing job opportunity out here, and DH and I figured we might as well give it a shot.
We drove cross country to get here. Stopped at Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse, drove through the Rockies to Aspen, stopped at The National Arches Park in Utah and did a full day tour of the Grand Canyon. It was amazing, and we saw things we never would have seen otherwise.
It sucks to be away from our families. I am missing my niece and nephew like crazy, but we went into this thinking we'll give it a shot for 3-4 years and then look to head back east if the pull is still there.

I work from home about 90% of the time during the summer, and I'm always ready to lose my mind by the end of June. I go back to work in a couple of weeks, and I can't wait.

Don't get me wrong...I've had a ton of fun.... a few barbecues here, a big surprise wine tour for my mom's 60th, wineries, Greenport vacation with the girls, Shelter Island vacation with DH, plenty of happy hours and dinners out....butttt I can do most of these things in the fall, so I'm ready for it lol

Halfway(ish) through summer...how is your's going?

My summer is great! We only went to the beach twice but we are going to Playa Mujeres later in August! It's one of the first times we are doing a vacation in the summer. We usually try to avoid the child crowd but this resort is adults only.

Other than that we are looking at houses and hoping to make a move to LI. Weird to think it may be my last summer in Queens..
