Middle School, what to expect?

My oldest is graduating from elementary school next week (*sniff, sniff*, how did THAT happen???)

Any insider tips, hints, anything about middle school?

Re: Middle School, what to expect?

my DD is too and I am paranoid as to what's going to happen next year !!

I just hope that she "finds herself" sooner then later. She's a timid kid who seems to be more of a follower then a leader and while it's not a bad thing - it still scares me !!

Good luck to you !!

Re: Middle School, what to expect?

My older guy is just finishing his first year of middle school. I think I learned more then he did lol. In sept my younger one will have his first year and there are definately things I will do differently. Kids become aware of differences in people etc......

Re: Middle School, what to expect?

This is a topics near and dear to my heart.

My oldest will be in 8th grade next year. Frankly, 7th was harder than I thought. The mean girls were out in full force and coupled with the boy crazy girls, I had many Excedrin moments.

The only advice I can give is to keep them active. My daughter is a "jock". She plays on the tennis and lacrosse teams and is an active member of the junior national honor society and community service club. This pretty much keeps her busy all year. In a lot of ways this has served to insulate her from some of the more unpleasant social situations and her team mates are largely her core group.

Fortunately, all of my friends with older children swear 9th grade is easier.
