My twins <3

I realized I never posted my birth story.....

I had plans to deliver DS and DD vaginally but they both turned breech and put an end to that!! I went to the dr. on Monday 11/2 for my 35 week check-up and my BP was high. It was like deja-vu from when I had my son. He did bloodowork, had me start a 24hr urine and wanted to see me the next day. I went back Tuesday and it was still high..... he was not happy with it being so high so off to the hospital I went. I was by myself with DS so my mom and stepfather met me at the dr.'s office to take him home.
My mom ended up coming with me to the hospital because DH was hours away from getting home.
Got there and they checked my pressure, did bloodwork and started a 24 hour urine check. The high risk dr. came in to see me and said they were going to monitor me....they didn't want to deliver yet but I wasn't going home til the babies were born. I was admitted and sent up to the ante-partum unit to be monitored. It was the height of the swine-flu stuff going on, so they wouldn't let DS come visit

Sooo....I waited.....and waited....BP was high, but stable. Bloodwork was OK. The high risk docs wanted to keep babies in as long as possible. babies were doing good on the monitors and I missed DS terribly(i could cry thinking about it) but I knew it was important to keep the babies in as long as possible...every day they stayed inside was better for them. I had pics of DS in the room and all the nurses kept asking about him so it made me feel better.

Thursday morning (11/5) they came in and said my levels were starting to climb (signs of pre eclampsia) and they would re do blood in a few hours. At that point they told me not to eat in case they needed to do c/s that day. Around noon they re did the bloodowork and numbers were the same....so no rush to deliver and I could eat. I ate lunch, relaxed and waited for DH to come by after work. While he was there I got a massive headache and some blurry vision. I called the nurse, who called the resident, who called the high-risk dr., who called my dr........and decided it was time. So they sent me down to L&D right then and said I was going in as soon as my dr. got there. He got there about 7:45 and I was in the OR by 8pm.
Thr nurse and anesthesiologist kept asking if I was OK b/c she said I was eerily calm....I think I was in shock I was about to have 2 more babies!!
Baby A....Michael John was born at 8:39 followed by Baby B Leah Marissa at 8:40. Michael was 5lbs12oz and 18 1/2 inches--took a sec but he cried quickly. They brought him to me, let me kiss him then off to the NICU. Leahwas 4lbs110z and 18inches....it took awhile to cry, they worked on her in the OR awhile then brought her to me for a second to see her on the way to NICU. I had to spend 8 hrs in recovery b/c of my BP and i was so anxious to see them. I didn't sleep once in there, I wanted to see and touch my babies. My nurse kept telling me to sleep but I couldn't. DH was nervous to go see them without me so we went together at about 4am. The NICU dr. did come in and update me on them....so I knew they were both on ventilators but doing OK.

Once they were doing better the nurses let us put them together for a little while...this was the first time at about 5-6days old
