upset over progress can someone give me some reassurance
yester day I went for my 39 week exam and Im still not dialated and still back and kinda high-- the only good thing is that he says my cervix is soft and 50% effaced. I feel like Im getting nowhere and im going to be around forever or have to get induced. The baby he thinks is above the average size wise and I dont want to have to be induced but Im afraid they will becuase of size. Also he didnt reccomend any ways of getting things moving along- he said nothing is really proven safe or effective. Im so impatient right now- esp since my sil just had her baby at 37 weeks and I want mine now too- also dh is getting impatient as well.
CAn someone inspire me that not being dialated doesnt mean I'll go late...

My friend had her baby about 5 weeks ago. She went from not being dialated at her 12 noon Dr's appt...to having the baby at 8pm that night. It can happen soo quickly!
Come out, little baby!!!!!

Almost a ditto for me! I wasn't dialated at my Dr's visit but later that evening I was in labor, and had my son the next day!
You just never know, I was so hoping I would be early and I was a week late with no signs of labor.

I know how you feel I was the exact same way and people that I knew who were prego at the sam time for me were giving birth early and I was getting so pi$$ed off. Even at the Begining of my 40th week it was all still the same not dialating cervix soft and 50% efaced then the day before my due date the mucus plug fell out and I went in to labor that nite and had marissa on her actual due date

I wasn't dialated on a Thursday or effeced or anything - my water broke a few days later and I went into labor! I felt like I was going to go late because my belly which had felt like it dropped the week before felt really higher than ever the days before I went into labor. I was 3 weeks early. You never know!

I was six days late, longest 6 days of my life, but just remember, baby will have to come out at some point!!! They can't stay in there for ever!!!

I wasn't dilated and the baby still hadn't dropped at my appt 3 days before I went into labor and my Dr. told me that "the baby wouldn't be here any time soon" - obviously he was wrong
