As of Holy Thursday I can join this side
But I have lots of questions and I have no clue were to start so I need some help with BTDT moms! My first question and this may sound silly but I feel all he does is sleep, eat and go to the bathroom. He doesnt stay up long at all may 10 min. the most at a time and I was wondering if that was normal. Also I feel like he wants to eat all the time. I am breastfeeding and he gets about 30-40 minutes of sucking and then we give him about 1.5 oz formula after that (per the pediatrian) and he sleeps for 1.5 to 2 hours so far. Last night he only got up twice which was great but that only lasted till this morning. So is this normal? And the hormones I cry hysterically at the drop of hat!

All normal. For the first few weeks I cried almost constantly! I couldn't look at her without crying!
Also, she slept almost all the time for the first 2 weeks, enjoy it!

first off CONGRATULATIONS! he is adorable! I saw the pics on the other board..
and definitely all norm and take it all in now..its a nice breather to whats to come

Sounds like all is well. They sleep a ton at first. Make sure you try to get some sleep when the baby sleeps.
The only thing I will suggest is researching supplementing with formula. It will only hurt your milk supply not help it, but you do what you're comfortable with.

Congratulations! 
All of it sounds normal to me. I do have to say that when I was breastfeeding for the first few months, I felt like it was all of the time & he would spit up a afterwards. When I read up a little bit, I realized I was misreading his cues for hunger.
A good book is the Baby Whisperer. I'll try to find the cues online & FM you.

I remember those sleepy days!!! Enjoy just holding his sleeping body in your arms because in a few short months he'll never want to sleep and he'll be squirming all over. It is impossible to hold Emily in our arms now at times because she wants to get at EVERYTHING!!
I would also have to aggree with monkeybride though about supplementing with formula. I would get a second opinion on that or see how he does without it for a few days because in my opinion, especially in the beginning, if you are planning on breastfeeding it should be only that. Your body will make enough milk unless you are having problems with your milk suppy or he isn't gainng, in which case I understand but would still try to get on without it as much as possible.

Congrats!! Nothing prepares you for the lack of sleep. But I do promise that it gets better.
He is nursing for 30-40 minutes and then wants formula? Is he suckling the whole time or is he using you for a pacifer most of it? Why is the ped requesting you use formula? You may want to ask exactly why.
