how to tell your family when you get a BFP

so, i am obviously WAY premature with this, but i cannot help but think

when and if the day comes, how will i tell my family since they will be there with me every step of the way with IVF

anyone have any clever ideas to surprise them?

I was thinking about telling them i was doing an extra month of meds and then surprise them if i get a BFP

OR

i was thinking about testing early and if i get a BFP early, then tell them before the TWW is up

i know it's probably so silly of me to think about this now, but i am hoping that day comes!!

has anyone done something to surprise their family while they did IVF?

Re: how to tell your family when you get a BFP

I planned in my head how I would tell DH and my parents. All of my fabulous plans flew right out the window! On Sat, it was my mom's 60th B-day and I know she hasn't been sleeping well bc knowing what Dh and I have been going through. As soon as I got there, I blurted out, "It worked."

Later in the day, DH said, "I know it probably didn't work so we shouldn't get our hopes up." He looked so sad, I blurted out again, "It worked." (Yes, I know it's weird that I told my mom before DH.)

So much for the creative ideas that were brewing in my head for months.

Re: how to tell your family when you get a BFP

Since I was trying for years before my BFP I had a lot of time to think about it and used to daydream about telling DH. When it happened I came downstairs crying and shaking with the HPT in my hand and said "I think it worked"!
So much for that! But he loved it and said this was better!!
My parents live oos so I just told my Mom over the phone after my 1st beta.
I wish I could've been creative but they already knew we were doing IVF again so they were waiting.

I didnt get to tell my husband in a cute way b/c we went through IVF to conceive so he was there when the doctor called with my beta. But with my parents - I wanted to make it special. So the day after I got the call from my doctor about my beta I went to my parents house. My 3 yr old nephew was there and I wanted him to tell my parents...I thought it would be cute. So I pulled him aside and after promising him a "surprise" I told him to go in the kitchen and tell Grandma that Aunt Lisa has a baby in her belly. So he went running into the kitchen yelling in typical 3yr old language "Gwandma!! Gwandma!!! Wisa has a baby in the belly!!!!!" and pointed to my belly. It was soooo cute. My parents were so confused at first....then they realized what he was saying.

Re: how to tell your family when you get a BFP

Only my Mom knows that we did IUI, but everyone knows we have been trying. Everyone is afraid to ask though so no one really knows our schedule for IUI or when we would be getting the results.

Back when I found out I was pregnant in April I ordered a t-shirt for DS that says "I'm going to be a big brother" and was going to have him wear it and see who noticed first. Then I had the miscarriage so he never got to wear it. Now that I just got my BFP I hope it still fits. :)

Unfortunately I tell my mother everything so she is couting down till my doctor's appointment this Monday. I'm think of testing early on Sunday and (hopefully) surprising my parents the day before my appointment.

As for DH, I want us to find out together so he will be there when I take my home test....

that's a great idea! i hope the shirt still fits too!

i was thinking about ordering a shirt that says, "i'm pregnant" or something like that and just wear it over one day before the beta!

i am definitely going to be in tears every step of the way! i am already so overly emotional about the whole process - it's going to be amazing if everything turns out well!
