Dog-friendly towns out east?

DH has the day off today and since it's so nice out,we want to go out east and do stuff. Are there any towns that are relatively dog-friendly? We don't want to leave her if we are going to make a full day out of it. My parents usually watch her, but they are out of town We were thinking of maybe going to Greenport, but not sure if we could take Lilly along....

Any suggestions?

I know it's too late at this point, but for the record we have taken Misty to:

Montauk
Greenport
Shelter Island
Jamesport
and Orient.

We've never had a problem - of course we eat at outdoor cafes and don't try to bring her in the stores. One of us will wait outside with her while the other goes in....although in Montauk and Greenport, she was invited in to a few stores.

definitely agree about montauk we also have been to southampton ( not inside shops though)
