Re: Post your side dishes and recipes for Christmas eve and Christmas day

Christmas Eve we are having an antipasto platter, shrimp cocktail, baked ziti, eggplant rollatini, chicken parmigiana, salad and Italian bread. I married into the only Italian family that doesn't eat any fish on Christmas Eve! Chat Icon I'm also making Christmas cookies and pumpkin pie and the others are bringing more desserts.

For Christmas Day, I'm making prime rib, roasted potatoes and veggies, mashed potatoes, corn, and brussels sprouts sauteed with pancetta. Dessert is another pumpkin pie and whatever anyone is bringing.

Oh yeah, and I'm hosting both days! Chat Icon

This makes me laugh. Every year growing up my grandmother had a cold cut platter, potato salad and cold slaw for Zorns for Christmas dinner. My sister and I got to walk to Zorns to pick it up and look at the turkeys while we were there.

Re: Post your side dishes and recipes for Christmas eve and Christmas day

Christmas Eve - no idea what we're doing... probably low key at home, so I have no idea what we're making.

Christmas day is at my parents' house. I'm guessing mom will make filet mignon, roasted potatoes, and some kind of vegetables, plus rolls, etc.

I'm doing a "Christmas, Take II" dinner the Friday after Christmas for DH's family and my parents.

I think I'm making:

Appetizers:
Veggie platter with dip
Davanzati sauce (like a tomato sauce) with toast points
Stromboli
Shrimp cocktail
Chips, pretzels, etc.

Main Course:
Roasted pork tenderloin
Herb and olive oil roasted sweet potatoes
Garlic mashed potatoes
Steamed String beans
Steamed baby carrots
Rolls

(Had to make 2 starches b/c some people don't like sweet potatoes and I LOVE them with pork...)

Dessert:
Chocolate cream pie with choice or regular or peppermint whip cream
cookies (chocolate chip, m&m, sugar)
brownies
chocolate covered pretzels
something non-chocolate, if I can think of what to make. (Luckily, the ILs are from Hershey, PA and love chocolate!)

Would you mind sharing your sweet potato recipe? It sounds delicious!
