Removing medical tape residue from skin!
I recently had surgery and have a ton of medical tape residue left on my skin. After numerous showers it isn't budging. Any ideas on how to get it off? I read that nail polish remover helps but looking for other options. It's all over my arms and abdomen. Thanks!

Do you have a medical supply shop near you? They usually sell adhesive removal wipes. Very effective. It's such a waste to have to buy a whole box (when you probably only need a couple) but worth it. I was rubbing my skin off until my doctor told me to buy them!

either vaseline or baby oil. i tell most people to coat it in vaseline, let it sit for an hour then rub it off with a warm soapy wash cloth.

I was in the hospital for almost a week recently. Nail Polish Remover on a Q-Tip worked for me.

I agree.. I use AJ's tub of Aquafur for this reason. Great at loosing up adhesives including bandaids! Huge life saver in our house.
I let it sit for as long as I can with her (5mins) then usually wipe off what I can and reapply. Works wonders.

ugh! so annoying! they taped the hEll out of my IV when I had DS 3 weeks ago and residue is JUST came off my arm like 3 days ago. (IV had to go in the crook of my arm instead of my hand). I literally picked at it for days. I should have just googled the right way to get rid of it!

Alcohol rubs work great. The hospital told me to use those or baby oil to get rid of my tape residue after my csection.

Thanks everyone I'll give some of these a try. I tried Vaseline earlier but didn't let it sit long and it didn't work. Wish I brought home some of those alcohol wipes from the hospital!

OK, didn't have alcohol so I let the Vaseline sit on it for like 20 minutes and was easily able to wipe it off. Thanks again for the ideas!!

i tried the usual baby oil, olive oil.. etc. didnt work.
i used goo gone. i figured you get it on your hands when you use it normally so it had to be safe. worked like a charm! i just washed well with antibacterial soap after.

Seriously. This works on getting sticker residue off of things you just bought too.
Oils will loosen the adhesive and allow you to wipe it off. That's why a variety of things work - they're all oil based.
