Need your response please!
I have received numerous FMs asking me to re-name this board to include everyone that has lost a parent or parental figure not just a mother? There are many people that lost their fathers or have chosen to end relationships with living parents for various reasons. So, I have included a poll on this thread. I look forward to your comments.

I would love it to be renamed as well..
Perhaps to a title with grief in it?
or "Loss Support Grp"

I feel that lossing a parent thru death is different then lossing them by no longer speaking- or estrangment
I wouldn't mind 2 boards- 1 for each of these
the grieving process is not the same for both losses IMO-
and one is not easier then the other- they are just different

i dont think 2 boards r necessary at all...loss is a loss...u dont wanna have 10 different boards, it will never get traffic
i like "loss support grp" b/c it can cover any type of loss parent...friend..sibling...either by death or estrangement...

I agree - you can specify in the title of your thread if it is something specific related to the loss of your mother or your father, a friend, relative, whatever. I think creating multiple boards is unnecessary. As it is, this board gets very little traffic, and if you opened it up to grief in general, there would probably be a lot more support for those who need it.

I voted to be renamed and I think it will benefit anyone who has lost a loved one through the process of grieving(parent, friend, grandparent etc) or the loss of not being able to stay in touch with their loved ones.
I think something along the lines of "Expressing Your Loss" or "Supporting You Through Your Loss"....will cover all the different situations.....

As a person who lost her dad, thank you for this change.
If its just for those who lost a parent, I would call it "Parent Loss Support Board"
If its for the loss of a family member, I would call it "Family loss support Board"

What about "Family Support Group"?
The name doesn't change too much for those familiar with the board, but it's broad enough to include all types of loss.

I feel having two groups is a nice idea too. Although we're all grieving we may be able to help eachother in more specific ways if we're talking about specific relationship losses. It's a tough one.

Loss of a loved one or mourning a loss
I lost one parent through death and the other through estrangement way before...I think one board would be great.
