Why are moms the default to call for sick kids?
My son had a headache the other day and the school called me to pick him up. I clearly fill out the form so I am the second contact as my job does not have as much flexibility as my husband’s. The nurse calls me and I say, did you try my husband and she says no. I said have you tried my husband and she seemed surprised. I understand maybe most moms would leave work but I work 45 mins away and would need to get a sub to fill in and put together a quick lesson plan so we’re looking at my son waiting for at least an hour. My husband works 5 mins away from the school and can take work meeting wherever he is.
Why are we still living in the 1950s?

Not sure what happened to my post. Basically I said it is wrong for us moms to be the only ones people rely on. I would tell the nurse to call him after calling you as he is closer.

Oh please. I could go on a tirade about this. And not just this, for everything. The feminist movement really did not make a good plan for an equitable division of labor before they went on their bra burning rampage.

This is why I put my husbands phone number down as primary. I also made sure that when the school emailed ONLY me regarding my daughter that they add my husband to ALL correspondence.
I work from home but my child isn't only my responsibility.
