Wind chimes?

Are wind chimes annoying to neighbors? I really wanted to get a set of large wind chimes with deep, peaceful tone. I don’t particularly like the small chimes with a high pitched tone. I am realizing that my neighbors might be annoyed by the noise. I do not want to be “that” neighbor. Should I go for it or pass?

I am sure to take them down at night or on exceptionally windy days.

Don’t know and don’t care. I love mine and my other neighbors have them too.

I love wind chimes and would never be upset if a neighbor had them.

It's only annoying when it is very windy, but I think the larger ones are probably less affected by that.

Years ago, I moved into a new apt and by the time we got there it was late at night, we were exhausted and couldn't figure out how to turn the radiator off, so we slept with the window open since it was breezy & couldn't sleep because of windchimes somewhere. I am not even sure where there were, because it was all apartments in that neighborhood.

So, I always think of that when I think of windchimes, but that's my issue.

Live the sound of wind chimes, esp the deep tones. The annoying g ones to me are the metal, tinny sounding cheap ones. I say go for it!

I have 3 metal ones and a wooden one. I love the sound they make.

Re: Wind chimes?

We have a townhouse for our vacation home and our neighbors had wind chimes. My husband HATED them. He thought it was so obnoxious that we had to listen to their windchimes all day long. So I would say it depends how close you are to your neighbors. If you are really close I would skip the wind chimes or only put them out when you can enjoy them.

I like them and have them, not too concerned about the neighbors, we don't live that close.
