What does RSVP mean to you?
Just trying to get an overall consensus of how people consider it?
A. I only answer when I am planning to go
B. I only answer when I am planning not to go
C. I don’t answer at all
D. I always answer yes or no

For me, it means none of those. It means I answer whether I am going or not.
People not RSVPing is one of my biggest pet peeves. When DH and I have a casual party (like one at our house where we don't need an exact headcount and it's okay if someone shows up last minute), I put on the invites, "If you can attend, please respond by blahblahblah." I can then safely assume anyone who isn't attending won't be responding. I've found this helps with some of the headache of non-RSVPers lol.

RSVP means to reply yes or no.
Regrets only- means only reply if you can't make it
I don't think I've ever seen or heard of an RSVP that means - don't reply at all if you are not going.
I always say yes or no when it says to RSVP (unless it specifies regrets only)

It's ridiculous to not click "NO" on a facebook rsvp. It doesn't get any easier than that.
I can see it being a little awkward to text a complete stranger to say your child can't attend their party. I still do it, but when I had parties for my son in K and 1 and invited the whole class, only 7 people responded. I always liked seeing those parents at pick up and knowing they were rude jerks for not responding.

Exactly and especially if you know you can’t go. Most people are on everyday too and if you get tagged, you can see who tagged you and where. I like to tag everyone on my list when doing the menu planning or such so it does give them another opportunity to rsvp if they missed it or forgot. I won’t chase after people anymore though and message them privately. We are all adults and should know right from wrong.

It's important to let the host yes or no so they can get a good count. Unless it says only respond if you CAN'T then I will RSVP

People are so rude though. I don't know if they forget, are waiting for a better invite, are trying to come up with a good excuse...I don't get it. Just say yes or no. IDC if you are coming or not...I just don't want to run out of food.
My brother just did this for my cousin's wedding. He doesn't want to go because he doesn't like my cousin. The RSVP was on the wedding website so all he had to do was click no and be done with it. Instead, he waited until after the deadline and then my cousin CALLED him and he had to have an awkward conversation. Dummy.

D, in most cases. There are some events, where it seems clear that they only need to know if you are coming.
Usually that is for less personal events. For example, my apt complex had a retirement party for some staff members at that was worded as " please call the office if you would like to attend" or something like that.

Exactly. So many are on multiple times a day too so you can’t say you missed a notification tag.

Yes yes yes with the IDC if you are coming or not or the reason.
I have made it a little easier now for certain parties that everyone will bring something so I know there will be enough food. I just hate to overspend or run out of things.

Oh I give people 3 chances and they are done but it is hard when it is family and you see them and they are like yeah, I would love to go to this or that party you have. Then you invite them and they ignore the invite.

Yes I could see that. Sports parties, NYE, birthday are more personal and require you let the host know how many people they expect.

I actually had a friend tell me they were coming to a birthday party. Never showed up. Later on that night I see her on her boat on fb. I asked if all was ok as she said she was going to come to the party. She says well I couldn’t get a babysitter (for her 11 year old) and she would just annoy me if I brought her with me. Ummm, ok. Why couldn’t you message me that instead blowing me off? She hasn’t been invited to any other party I have had after that and I don’t plan to invite her to any other one. We talk on fb and if I saw her at something else, but that was extremely rude and we have known each other over 20 years.

On fb I can't see anymore if they have seen the invite but when you do 1 invite and multiple tags on posts, you would think they would see at least ONE time that they have an invite.
