Brookhaven Town -backyard pools

I have such a hard time finding info on the Brookhaven town website.

We are putting an inground pool in in a few weeks. Our yard is fenced but I know it’s not in compliance. We plan on putting one of those babyloc gates around the pool. Does anyone know if the babyloc fence will satisfy the fence requirements?

I would put a call in to an expediter to find out. I think the pool also requires an alarm. This is one we have used, James Ellsaser (631) 346-3695.

What company are you using? Some companies will dig the pool without you getting the permits, and some will not. They will ope the permit and give you time to close it, where an inspector from the town will come (They are a pain in the a$$)
You will also need an alarm. Call companies, they will rent them to you for a low fee until you get the permit, rather purchasing them. They can be expensive, unless you plan on keeping them.

I dont think those gates will be enough.

We are using lifestyle pools in lake grove. He suggested getting the permit because we did have a small issue with a neighbor and the fence a couple years ago. So we do have the permit now. I can call them and ask, but I’m not sure they know exactly either. I was hoping someone did this recently and could tell me quicker. The pool is going in in 6 weeks.

That’s good to know the pool alarms that can be rented. I never heard of that.

Get the permit. If you don't it could become an issue if you ever go to sell the house

Have you tried calling the Building department? When we were putting in a pool, I just called and spoke to someone directly. I'm in Islip but the person I spoke with was very helpful. They should be able to tell you immediately your fence requirements. Your pool guy should be able to tell you also.

Thanks. I found out the babyloc fences do not meet the requirements. So I have to fix our yard fence to get the CO.
