Re: When do you un-decorate?

After New Years. We are having some people over, and keep the tree and decorations up.

I try to wait until little xmas or the weekend after new years. But since we have off the day after new years, I might do it then.

I am actually so happy I did it. It becomes too much clutter and the outside things turned into a mess with the rain and wind

Same. It's funny how November 1st everyone wants it up because "it makes them happy!!!" But by Christmas they are just sick of it and want it down.
I don't put my shit up until the first weekend of December which was late this year so it's staying up.
It's too exhausting to take it down after only 3 weeks.

When do you un-decorate?

We wait until after Little Christmas. And the trees we have in the BRs stay up through February usually bc we all like the lights.

I waited until December and still done. My house is too small and I didn’t even put out all my decorations. It’s just so much work.

I will take the tree down this week as it’s making a mess. I took down the inflatables already as it was so cold and windy.

I only put it up early because my 8 year old loves it - otherwise it would be up for 3 weeks max.

I want to repaint my living room before I go back to work - can’t do that if tree is up.

Thats why I leave mine up. My daughter likes it up for Christmas week and into New Years. But I can't handle it being up for long
If it was up to me I'd do none of it. So much work and not my thing

My family doesn’t even care and no one helps so I go with my timeline. It was so much work taking off the ornaments and finding the right boxes and wrapping.

Same here. I really don't care since DH does all the work because he loves to do so. And DS is loving the decorations now and this is his last year before going to college, that I'll deal with the mess and cleaning up, because of it.

Re: When do you un-decorate?

We try to leave it until the 6th, but I'm not sure if my tree will make it, so we may do it on the 1st or 2nd. I don't put up a ton, so it isn't in the way. I put most of it out around the 2nd or 3rd, but put my tree up on the 9th.

New Year’s Day. I like to start the new year with a blank slate. But I actually started putting some stuff away yesterday when I was cleaning up from hosting Christmas Day.

OMG it is a lot of work. I actually am shocked I was able to do it all in one day. I usually take a few days to decorate now as I do more outside.

There is a house in my neighborhood that puts up their Christmas decorations- tree and all- Columbus Day weekend.Chat Icon
So yeah, I can see being sick to death of it by Christmas Day.

I can literally put my stuff up a week before and I am just done by Christmas lol. Not enough room to move around the house. Dust collects around everything. Everyone leaves things around the decorations. How many times do I have to say Jesus did not drink from a water bottle or have a wallet Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
Maybe if I had a bigger home with more rooms that wasn't used on a full time basis, I would be more willing to keep the tree up and decorations out longer.
