Mental health appointments
Is it just me, or is it hard to get an appointment with a mental health provider? I went to my PCP last week to try and get meds to manage my anxiety, as I have a lot of stress going on in my life that seems to be catching up to me. My primary Dr. wasn't available, so they put me with a Nurse practitioner who said they couldn't prescribe me anything and referred me to a Psychiatrist. The referral place gave me a few options nearby that took my insurance but every place I called, I left a message and no one is calling back. I made a follow up appointment with the actual Dr. I see at the PCP's office to see if she will at least write me something until I can get in with someone, but I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this?

Mental health appointments
Yes. It is a very serious problem. I have been waiting over a year for get my child in to see a doctor. There are none available or taking new clients.

Maybe try an online mental health service?
Lemonaid Health is one and I think there are others too where you can see a doctor via video and they can prescribe you meds. If it's something like anxiety that isn't super complicated this can be an option.
I've never used it, but I have heard of them

It's a huge problem and very unacceptable.
I don't know where you're located but there is a practice near where I work. They take insurance and do tele health visits. I believe they also do walk-in appts on Tuesday.

Look into the site mindful care They are currently doing online mental health appointments and they will absolutely connect you with someone who can prescribe and manage meds.

It’s a huge problem since covid. Therapists are overbooked with appts.
My PCP prescribes medication for me. It may be time to find a new dr who can handle what you need.
