Not to start a debate - Covid booster

Has anyone gotten the new covid vaccine booster? Did you get Covid before?

Still debating for myself and my teenage son.

I don't think he ever got Covid that I know of. He also has bad allergies at times so never know.
I had Covid back in May.

I've had 3 boosters (including the newest one) and I've never caught Covid. But I'm also still masking in most places (other than restaurants).

Re: Not to start a debate - Covid booster

I have no intention of getting any booster. I only got the vaccine to cruise and still not happy about that. I have never tested positive for covid but after my cruise I was sick and assuming I had it as my husband tested positive a week later. We are both fine and it only lasted about a week (like a normal cold).
The booster doesn't seem to stop anyone getting it and no one really knows how you would be with or without a vaccine if you get sick so them saying it will keep you out of the hospital is just speculation.

Re: Not to start a debate - Covid booster

I plan to get the new one for Omicron in a few months’ time. I work with people who constantly travel all over the world and the country. The place is loaded with germs. I have been sick for about 2 1/2 weeks and I started 5 weeks ago.

ETA: I had Omicron in January.

I would never get another covid vaccine or booster again. Maybe if they change the vaccine completely.

Before you get it for you son I would do some research as I heard a teaser for the news that it is now proven that the vaccine causes heart issues in young men.

Re: Not to start a debate - Covid booster

I would not get it if you don't have to. I had to get it around Christmas for my job as they were requiring it to be considered fully vaccinated. Shortly after me and my entire family all got Covid. The worst part is I had a horrible reaction to the booster. My arm was painful and swollen/red. My periods were also messed up for a while (I finally am on a birth control pill where it seems to be keeping it regular). I told my husband if my job required another booster I would have to quit.

Also I would be weary hearing about all the studies of young men developing heart issues. JMO.

I qualified for the extra booster b/c I went through chemo in 2021. Thankfully not yet b/c of my age! Chat Icon

Not to start a debate - Covid booster

I know you said no debate so I’ll just say your best bet is to discuss this with your healthcare providers who will have hopefully read the study thoroughly and understands the medical terminology in it and not just the wound it’s released from Florida.

I read through the entire study and the benefits outweigh the risks for me and my family.

I find it funny and again I know she said no debate but how is there NOT when speaking of this, that people boosted 2-3 times are still getting it and some bad. I was perfectly fine until I got the vaccine and while I am not 100% I had it I had all the symptoms and had nothing after being exposed over and over before I was vaccinated.
I still don't think they know enough for all of this and even the meds they prescribe are known to give you covid a 2nd time a week later (example Biden) as my mom's friend just took them. They did tell her though she would get it again. I don't understand why anyone would take them then.

Not to start a debate - Covid booster

I had 1 booster. My husband and son just had the vaccine itself and my daughter hasn't had anything. We all had covid in January. Only my husband was sick. The only reason I got the booster is because I am immunocompromised and am on immunosuppressants. My specialist advised me to get the first, but told me not to get any subsequent ones. Definitely discuss with your medical team before jumping to any decisions. Its definitely not a one size fits all type of thing.

Re: Not to start a debate - Covid booster

Most people I know who are vaccinated have not gotten the newest omnicron booster and I don’t know anyone who has gotten it for their children. Their reasons were mainly that the newest booster was not tested on humans, there where no human clinical trials, only mice. That combined with the fact that they all did get covid anyway and some of them a second time and worse after they had their third booster. I didn’t look into it because we are not considering it but my point is, I would do you research.

I received the first booster and have no plans to get another one as the pandemic has been declared over by the president.

I also have no plans to vaccinate my kids - one had Covid in the spring and was just as sick as his vaccinated peers. I believe the other one had to have had it at some point as well as he is out and about a lot.

ETA - Other than my mom and my father in law, I don't know many people planning on getting the newer booster.

Re: Not to start a debate - Covid booster

I will not get a booster, I just had the first shot back in May 2021. I got covid 4 months after that.

I have not and will never give the covid shot to my children, especially my sons. What is funny is during their annual check ups the Dr asked if they had it, but when I said no, they did not ask me if I wanted them to have it or push it in any way.

Our pediatrician hasn’t pushed it either. There were some questions in the online check in awhile ago asking if we were interested and ever since I checked no it wasn’t brought up.

I did get one covid booster due to a mild underlying medical condition. I got covid a few months later. I have not gotten a second booster. My DD (age 6) has not had any booster.

Yup, I got the new booster. My whole family did. I had Covid last August (2021) and then was boosted last November and about a month ago.

DH and I both got the Omicron booster two weeks ago. I have never had Covid.

I'm happy I got it and feel some relief that I have protection against this variant. It's super contagious.

How long do you think you will continue to wear a mask?

This post was never meant to start a debate so this person wearing a mask has nothing to do with the post. She was just stating what she does.
I don't think I'll get the next vaccine. I don't wear masks myself anymore, but will when I'm around a friend who I'll be visiting with cancer or anyone immune compromised. Not my place to judge. Honestly when we were wearing masks it actually helped my son who had an oral fixation and his hands were always in his mouth. Every time we went on vacation he would get sick. Every single time.
