Great Wolf- MagiQuest Question

Hi there! I have a few questions about Great Wolf Lodge's Magiquest thingy. We're going in October and others in our group are doing the Magiquest thing for their kids. So I figure my kids are going to want in on the action, too. Now the question is, I see people reselling old wands and they say they "work" does that just mean the batteries work in it but we still need to pay to activate them or like if we buy them and bring them they'll activate things without me having to shell out $50 a kid. For reference, my kids are 6 and 3- I don't mind getting it for the 6 year old since she will understand and participate but my 3 year old would probably be just as happy waving a stick around. Chat Icon Clearly I've never been to Great Wolf before and have no idea what this thing actually is. But my kids will never pass up a chance for a magic wand. Chat Icon Thanks for the tips!

Great Wolf- MagiQuest Question

You will have to pay to activate the wand for the weekend. That said, it is definitely less expensive than buying a wand brand new when you get there. At one point in time you could "rent" a wand, but I don't know if they still do that because I bought my kid a wand. For us it was totally worth it based on how often we went (and there once was a place in NJ we could go for the day and play - but it's closed now).

Thank you! This is super helpful. I think I found it was like $15 to activate. I'm going to order two wands on ebay and activate once we're there. Still cheaper, especially since they have the fancier wands with toppers and whatever other nonsense they add on to make me spend more money. Chat Icon

What exactly is this MagiQuest? We were just there last weekend and DD didn't see the shop until our last day.

Sorry, just saw this! Apparently there are interactive areas all over the resort and the kids use a magic wand to activate these attractions. I've never done it so I don't really know what to expect, but here's the blurb from their site...

Embark On Magical Quests Throughout The Lodge.
Explore the lodge and take part in the adventure of a lifetime! MagiQuest turns Great Wolf Lodge into a live-action game where you're the star. You’ll choose a special magic wand, top it with extra powers, and set off on a quest. Play for a few minutes or all day. Be sure to take your wand home and continue your adventure on your next trip to Great Wolf Lodge.

Journey through the fantasy-forest realm of Vellara to save the Sacred Trees – and the magic of the Evergreen – from a mysterious and shadowy force. Along the way, you’ll help the four Tribes, learn to cast powerful Runes, battle powerful enemies, and eventually become a Master Magi!

Introducing Mini Magi Mode!
Treasure chests open and crystals glow bright, every wave of the wand will surprise and delight! For kids age five and under, Mini Magi Mode provides all the magic of MagiQuest but in an experience that is specifically designed for younger Magi as they explore throughout the lodge.

MagiQuest Tips:

You can take your wand home as a souvenir and bring it back to use over and over again with the purchase of additional game time. Your wand will also remember all of your completed quests, so you can to pick up where you left off at your next visit.
You get to decide how much time you want to spend in the realms of MagiQuest. Each quest takes 15 to 30 minutes to complete and with unlimited play during your stay, you can always take a break to pick up the adventure later.

ETA: I think it's like in Universal at Harry Potter World.

Ok thanks. I just saw some kids open one of the chests but had no idea the purpose. Dd didn't even realize until the morning we were leaving.
