Have your kids ever traumatized you?

My little two are irish twins so I have gone through some very hairy situations when they were both toddlers. They are affectionately known as the terror twins because of that. I thought we were past all of that (finally!) but no. Last night, my worst nightmare happened. My son pulled his dresser over on him. I have always been paranoid about that so every piece of furniture is tethered to the walls in my house. He actually ripped it out of the wall! He is so lucky because the angle in which it went over allowed the top, front right side to be caught by his bed. He was wedged in the space made by that. He's okay. I am not.

I have told them countless times to never climb on the dressers or pull on the drawers. The silver lining is the other half witnessed the whole thing and they were both terrified so I don't think they will do that again. Even if they did, my DH now tethered it to the wall with steel so we really upped the challenge.

Anyone else have kids trying to put them in an early grave? LOL

Holy shit! I think my heart wouldn't jumped out of my chest and ran around the house before jumping back in. THANK GOD he's ok.

One year we were on vacation and we were in the indoor pool and I literally looked away for ONE second and the next thing I knew - a man is holding her up because she went to the deep end. I still think about it and hate myself for taking my eye off her.

My kids are pretty mellow but I think they all have traumatized me at least once! Lol

I have 3 boys. 10 year old twins and a 9 year old. The answer is yes! All my greys are because of them. One of them had staples put in the back of his head. I have had to go to the ER for myself once because of them (I was in my closet and they came up yelling so I panicked and stood up and knocked my head on the top of the closet so hard I passed out). DH had to go to urgent care for himself because of them (they were fighting and he was yelling while walking up the basement steps and hit the temple of his eye at the top of the steps- 7 stitches later). The list goes on and on.

So sorry it happened to you. And glad he is ok. My only DS is 16 y/o and he is a mellow boy, but we have had some scares with him. It doesn't stop. During this summer it was 2 times when we had to check him for a concussion, once because of a bike wreck and the second time because of a baseball hitting his head. It doesn't stop. I dread the day he goes to college and I can't be right there to help him.

Not by my kids but we almost witnessed my friends daughter drown. If it wasn’t for her older sister alerting us it would have been horrible. I jumped in fully clothed to get her. It was so quiet and happened so fast. Made me realize how easily it could happen.

Ugh! Sorry to hear that! I have 3 boys too and nothing gets my blood pressure elevated like when I hurt myself because of some dumb crap they did. I have not gotten hurt like you have but I have had some incidents because of something they were doing. It gets me so fired up. And when they break stuff in my house because they are being little animals. The worst was when they flooded my entire basement when they put the hose in through the basement window while i was at work. They were like 2 and 3 at the time. If it was now, they would have to live at Grandma's for a while for their own safety.

OMG they flooded the basement with a hose?? One day you're going to laugh so hard looking back and embarassing them with these stories that day is definitely not today though
