Here's a good question - Are people also bothered by people that have outdoor cats that roam all over the neighborhood? Our good friends have one. We love it when we spot it around the neighborhood. He goes in and out of backyards and is all over everyone's front lawns.... Thoughts?

People can be very bothered by outdoor cats.
I’m not because I LOVE cats, but I have read of horror stories (poisoning, bringing to the shelter, etc.) of people doing anything to get a cat away from their property because they consider them a pest.

Or they have the blades on the mower to cut too short which with not enough water, the grass will burn when the weather is warm.

I agree , many people have landscapers and inground sprinklers perhaps that's why i never have brown spots so it doesn't phase me. Just pointing out that', whether your particular neighbors are bothered or not, if they're not, then that's great for you--/ many many people are - so a universal sentiment of "walking my dog on someone's lawn " is perfectly ok , just isn't accurate .
As for the feral cats- huge huge issue that personally i find more maddening than dog pee by far !

Sod is just pre grown grass so yes, it will burn

Yeah, figured it would. My dog pees on every bush and pole he sees. Never has anyone been out there yelling at him to stop. I could see my dad back in the 80's saying something though as he didn't even like us walking on his lawn.

I agree with the children analogy, my kids know not to run or walk on other people's lawns. I find it disrespectful and rude. I dont really understand how dog owners dont think its rude. Some people work hard on their lawns and take pride in it ..either way its their private property, and neither my kids nor anyone's dog has a right to be on it without permission. I haven't noticed any burn marks on my grass from pee but my neighbors have and they get hella pissed off when dogs pee on their lawns.
We don't have sidewalks either so there is no strip of grass and to be completely technical the first 6 feet of our property is technically an easement owned by the town, not the individual property owner. So I guess TECHNICALLY my dog is peeing on town property, not individual homeowner property. Not sure if that makes a difference.
If my dog's pee burned the lawn I would definitely be more conscious of it. But it doesn't. So I am not. And maybe if I had a really large dog I would think more of it. But I don't. My dog probably pees about two tablespoons max.
Also in my neighborhood kids run all over everyone's lawns. In fact, many of the kids cut thru people's backyards. We have parks that you need to go thru certain backyards to get to and the people have signs just asking people to make sure they close the gate after they walk through!
Honestly I don't know that I could live in a place where it was commonplace for people to care this much about a lawn or their private property. Where I am, it's more about community, kids playing in the street having fun and feeling safe. Not about how green your lawn is.

I have always been taught that it is ok to let dog pee on then grass next to the road and never to allow them on the rest of the grass. Is this not common etiquette? Yeah that would annoy me. People walk their dogs on the other side of my street and if anyone they allow them to pee and poop over there but I always see people pick up the poop.

Oh and I have a landscaper and sprinklers - still have pee spots in the backyard bc that’s where my dogs pee. Front - none. So the water washing it away from your sprinkler isn’t exactly gonna do anything unless if turns on immediately after the pee and helps clear it

We have sidewalks and when we walk our dog we walk here on the street or I walk her on the sidewalk on a tight leash so she doesn't pee on my neighbors lawns. I do think it's rude for dogs to pee consistently on peoples lawns. With that said around the corner from us is public property and once we hit that on our walk I let her do her business on the grass.
I have to say 95% of my neighbors with dogs do the same as I do. I would be very annoyed if one of my neighbors consistently allowed their dog to pee on my lawn and make burn spots.

In the past week I’ve almost run over my neighbors cat twice and almost locked it in my garage (ok I’m exaggerating about the running over but he has been under my car and it’s creepy that after I back out of my driveway, I look forward and he’s staring at me lol)

Yes.
It's gross and inhumane for reasons others described. And I'm not particularly a cat person, but I am an animal person and a "keep your fukking pets safe" person.
One day I smelled urine by my front door. I was annoyed but forgot about it. Then the next night it got really cold, as in close to single digits. I heard crying outside my front door and it was a cat. Long story short we took it in - my dog had a shit fit but we managed - and the next day brought it to the town to see if the owners would claim it. To my surprise, they did. Long story short this cat has been found roaming the neighborhood in the freezing cold a few times by others in the area. We have agreed that if we see it again we are keeping it. The whole thing made us so p!ssed. The night we took it in we ran out and bought cat food which it absolutely inhaled. We know where the owners live and it's not super close - a few blocks away, which means it wandered quite a bit. It's obviously not well cared for.
A bit of a tangent but that brought back infuriating memories.

I actually have my one cat now because of owners who did that. They would put this poor baby out in snowstorms and blizzards. Luckily the neighbor worked with a cat rescue and when she saw this happen more than once she took the cat in during a blizzard, called the SCPCA and the owner was fined for animal cruelty and agreed to surrender the cat to the rescue. The neighbor who took the cat in fostered her until we adopted her through the rescue.
She's a total love and I'm so glad we got her out of that situation. I really don't' understand how people can be so cruel to their pets.

Yes I get it, but if you have an OUTDOOR cat you are the owner deliberatly letting your pet out, knowing it is going to pee and poop on other people's lawns.
