flood of emotions

a couple of things came together, today.

1. CA is weird! closing on a house here is different than back east. here, you sign all the docs on one day. wire all the moneys on the next day. officially close on the next day. sometimes they combine day two and three.
2. so... when i was told our closing date, i thought that was that. yesterday, i find out that today we are signing.
3. today would have been my grandmother's 97th birthday. she passed in october.

when i was originally told our closing date, i was kind of hoping to have it be today; to celebrate.
yesterday, i was surprised that the bulk of the work (signatures) would be today.
while waiting for the notary to meet us, i broke down crying. it's not the official day that will be recorded, but all our signatures are dated today. i miss her so much. she would have loved our little craftman bungalow. she would have wanted to get out in the yard/garden with me... and tell me how i'm decorating wrong lol

i wish my grandmother was here. i'm heartbroken that i cant' call her and wish her a happy birthday and give her the good news.

as i left the coffee shop and drove to work i cried some more (like i'm doing now) and i spoke to her. i hope she's pain-free and enjoying heaven. i pray that all i was taught is true and that i'll be able to see her again.

ok, back to work.

The anniversary of my grandmothers passing was yesterday, so I'm feeling the feels with you.

Im sure she would be the happiest person out there for you. She wouldnt want you crying over her not being here, she would definitely want you celebrating your next chapter!!!

yes, the feels are strong. i'm sorry for your loss.

she helped raise me. she literally was there every day in my childhood. i pray that i can be half the grandmother she was to me, the day it's my turn.

i've broken down another two times, today.

i have never wanted there to be a heaven as badly as i do now that she's gone. the memories and this thought are what keep me held together.

Awwwww. I'm sorry!
I had such a special relationship with my grandma too (she lived with us and I have so many wonderful memories of playing with her). I talk to her all the time - so talk to your grandma whenever you need to. She hears you!
My DD has a very special relationship with my mom and she is 82 and I am starting to fixate on the day she won't be here anymore. It's crushing. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My grandma died over the summer, and in church, when the priest was talking about her being reunited with my grandpa, I had the same thoughts.

It's hard when there is a big life thing-- my cousin is getting married this weekend- -I impulse bought a necklace that reminded me of my grandma, in her birthstone, so I could "bring her" to the wedding.

Congrats on the house. I'm sure your grandma would be proud. It seems like they move from contract to closing quickly in CA.
