house hunting sucks
found the perfect house.
accepted the current market and offered $30k over asking price.
seller countered with "best and final"... meaning "we'll give you one more chance to up your offer."
we upped our offer another $5k.
today, i was wasting time and checked zillow. the current price on the house is $60k over asking.
someone offered them $60k over asking.
 
 
at this rate, we will never find a house.

I'm sorry, it really is depressing and you're not alone what makes matters worse is that the interest rates are going back up. How long have you been looking? We've been looking for almost a year and desperately need more room. Now, we're entertaining the idea of building up because at this rate, we're never going to find a house

It is depressing but you never know... Zillow isn't the end all be all and sometimes people can't follow through on their offers.

house hunting sucks
I feel for those house hunting now. The market is BRUTAL for buyers and unfortunately the renters market is inflated as well. It really sucks for those buyers who can't compete with this market. I hope things start to level off soon.

I'm sorry, that is so frustrating. The market is really crazy right now. There is a home around the block from me (not the one I showed you) and I've been chatting with the potential new owners, they said they made an offer sight unseen. The houses are just flying off the market that there is literally no time to even see the homes before making an offer, it's insane.
I hope that you find something you love soon at a reasonable price.

yes, depressing.
i wouldn't normally be in with this crazy market. sadly, we have a serious reason to have to move... and renting is even worse than buying in southern california.
if you love your neighborhood, i can see how adding on to your current home could be an awesome idea. no need to change kids from school, etc.
i'll say a prayer for both of us.

because of the appraisal contingency, this is throwing a lot of housed back on the market. but because the seller got a bite at the higher price, that's the price they're bringing the house back at.
i feel (based on no education lol) that they are going to price themselves out of the market.

Hang in there.. I know how depressing and sad it can get. We looked for a year and even had to change plans. Houses we lost came back in the market multiple times. We offered 60k over for one house and lost it to a lower all cash offer. Keep on looking , you will find your home. The seller we bought this house from was total jack hole.
It will happen!
