No clue I thought she had until 1/25 and had no power after that. I guess they just make this stuff up as they go along, no surprise.

According to the Supreme Court she doesn't.
But I have learned that there are no rules anymore, no checks and balances.

The balls of this woman to even think she has the authority to do this when it is being argued in court right now. People thought Cuomo has a God complex, this woman is worse and delusional. They should be putting in papers to have her removed from office. She is a danger to one and all. As far as the hearing today, my district just sent out a letter saying it was not a hearing and they were just getting paperwork and nothing will be decided for weeks or months. The stay is in place and masks will stay in place. Then the lawyers for the suit just said they are expecting an answer this weekend. What is the answer?

And to add to my post lol. Where is the state legislators. Why hasn't anyone stood up and explained to this woman about checks and balances. They were put into place so what is happening doesn't happen. Where is everyone??

She had the school mask mandate in place until 1/25 I believe and the indoor for everywhere one in place until 2/1.
When she declared the state of emergency in December - I think that goes until 2/15... so if this isn't ruled unconstitutional, I think she has until then to drop the mandate (I've read so many different things lol)

Funny how I noticed this week more and more people not wearing masks. Even at the restaurant I watched people walk in and out, an entire family with kids with none on at all.
But then you have the people like the one woman who literally wore her mask at the table at another place the entire time and took down for sips and bites. At that point, STAY HOME. Some people have truly lost their minds and can't even think rationally anymore.

I went out last weekend and I saw the hostess didn't have one on- that was my sign to not bother at all.
Also I go to a bunch of places in Bayshore for lunch with my team and 2 of them don't have any employees masked or ask you to wear one- so we like going to those two. There are probably more but those are our 2 go to's

Almost everyone here is masked again. Honestly, it feels like you're the odd man out if you go maskless. Feels a little like 2020 again.
To that end, I do me, you should do you. You are so critical of other people's actions and choices all of the time. You don't know what people's situations are so maybe be a little less judgy and a little more tolerant.
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and had to undergo weeks of radiation therapy. She also has a severe autoimmune disorder where if she gets sick, COVID or otherwise, it can cause her to be more ill than an average person. She can't (nor does she want to) stay in the house forever so she does go out and live her life but she's always masked up wherever she goes.
So I guess my point to you is, be kind. Don't criticize people for being a sheep or for having no common sense without knowing someone's situation. That goes beyond masks too. If everyone was a little kinder and understanding the world would be a far better place, the constant judgement of others is so unproductive.
Wear a mask or don't but stop ripping on those that do simply because you don't agree with it.

I believe it’s also the need to follow rules even if maybe they’re aware that they don’t make sense. People (people from this time) are so afraid to go against the rules.

I think so too. I've always been a rule breaker- I know that's bad. But if my boss tells me I have to go to some training class that I don't want to go to, I automatically start cooking up ways that I wont' have to go. If someone says you have to do THIS, I think of ways to get around it or do it to MY convenience or on my terms.
I guess it's just a thing with me. I'm not saying it's great to be this way. I just always have been this way.
So in the beginning I did what I was told with this, but 2 years later, my rule skirting side is kicking in big time and I'll wear the piece of tissue on my face to walk in but I'm pulling it down once I'm in aisle 3.
But I'm not as bad as some people I know- in terms of what they are doing to get a legit (as in in the NY state database, verifiable and all) vax card, without actually getting the vax. I won't go as far as to commit a felony.
So pulling down a mask, or not wearing one to walk 3 feet to the Ladies room- doesn't seem SOOOO bad.

Were was I ripping or judging anyone in my post? The woman who should have probably just taken the food home and ate? If you are at the point where you are that scared to wear it 100%, even eating and drinking when there is NO ONE around you then THAT is more of an issue that you need to get help for. I agree more people should be kind and her loved ones should be trying to get her help. I also wonder if she WAS sick and just wanted to go out which is an ENTIRELY different thing which would not make me happy as anyone sick should be home taking care of themselves.
I have friends who wear them all the time when they are in crowded places as there are many times they go to clubs that do not require them and they were sick at one time so are extra careful.
I simply said that I have seen more and more people NOT wearing them in the places I have recently gone.

I have to say - I was at the grocery store last weekend and legitimately forgot my mask. I usually do wear one when I go food shopping. Well, I felt like a leper. People were staring (it just so happened to be PACKED) and DH (he had a mask but didn't wear it so I wouldn't be the only one without one - LOL) and I were only about 5 people who weren't wearing masks. I felt SO out of place it was unreal. I got very mad and was almost hoping someone would have said something to me because I would've gone off on them.

Maybe she is following the state supreme court ruling from Albany - which found the EXACT OPPOSITE of the judge in Nassau County.
