delta airlines already started this. I believe it's an extra $400/month for health insurance if you refuse the vaccine. Honestly, it's SMART... To the people on here saying vaccinated are still going to the hospital: data is showing over 97% of all new covid cases are from UNVACCINATED individuals and a great deal of deaths are from the same camp. If you want to refuse the vaccine because it's "your right" then you need to pay up I feel. Because it's not "your right" when it directly affects the public. I'm sick of adults acting like children over this. Get the vaccine and let our country get back on it's feet. People in other countries are livid because they would do anything for access to the vaccine, meanwhile Americans are actually refusing it.

So is there an exemption for people who may have some other health condition where it makes them unable to get the vaccine or religious reasons? I can't wait for something like this to get passed because it's going to open A LOT of doors for other fees for other health issues and then a bunch of you will start ******** about "how can they do that" or that's unfair".

And don't the majority of people...a large percent...vaccinated or not...who get Covid recover at home with no medical intervention?
Anyone have a statistic on all the people who tested positive for Covid and the percentage of those who.ebded up hospitalized and costing their insurance money? I'd bet it's pretty small.
This is just more nonsense to force people to get a vaccine. Period, end of story.

Exactly! It’s pretty shocking people don’t see this!

Smart indeed! Very clever way to force people to get vaccinated. Chat Icon. I guess the incentives are not working anymore huh?

Posted by NervousNell

Again I ask...what is the percentage of people who test positive for Covid that end up hospitalized?
Let's say 1000 people test positive today. How many end up hospitalized vs how many recover at home?
Why would someone have to pay $400 more a month for the TINY chance they'll end up hospitalized from Covid?
It makes no sense.
So let's say I go the whole year and avoid Covid. Health insurance pays nothing on me. Nada. Do I get a refund og my $400 /month premiums? I should right?
No?
Why?
Because it's punishment and not a premium?
Got it.

Yes! And that percentage that people love to throw around about unvaccinated being hospitalized, compared to all the people that are unvaccinated...that percentage is a minimal number. The majority of unvaccinated do not have covid, are asymptomatic, or have mild cases and recover at home. Numbers can make a big difference and people can easily manipulate them to fit their agenda. Don’t fall for that “97%”. Chat Icon

I think it would set a scary precedent for insurance companies. They would then be able to surcharge anything they deemed fit to charge a surcharge for. They are for profit companies already and this would open the door to providing even less care and coverage.
But, on the other hand, if an employer's company is going to have to pay more in premium to the health insurance company which would be passed to employees...I do think a tier system may be fair. Some companies do it now by giving a discount if you can prove you are exercising or living a clean life style.

Wait what?
That can't be legal.
There has to be more to it.
There are millions of unvaccinated people who have children and nobody is losing custody.
What exactly happened?

Yes. See what people don't understand or want to believe is that these insurance companies (and the pharmaceutical companies too-but that's a whole other thread) are all about money. They don't care that you are eating clean and going to the gym because they want you to be happy and healthy - they care because it saves them money on claims.
They don't care that you get the Covid vaccine because it's for the greater good, they only care about paying a hospital bill
So like you said- this can open a HUGE can of worms and they will start banging you out for every single pre-existing condition or medical issue or even lifestyle you choice
Be careful what you wish for....

You do realize that health insurance premiums are based on the health of those participating in the insurance program, right? So when healthcare costs rise due to increased claims (ie illness) we ALL pay more.

So essentially, the way I see it, either everyone pays more because people won’t get vaccinated and are thus more likely to get covid, or those who won’t get vaccinated and are more likely to get covid pay more. It’s a no brainer to me.

I guess maybe that is why our rates at work didn't go up a dime as we were not in the office.

Supposedly the father didn’t even complain to the court about the mother being unvaccinated. It wasn’t an issue for him. It was a decision by the judge and none of the parents saw it coming.

This is beyond insane. So under this logic any parent that doesn't get a flu shot is putting their child at even more risk, since the flu is way more deadly for children. This is starting to get scary.

The fact that you think that this is SMART is strange. The average extra cost per person in health care for covid between unvaccinated and vaccinated people can not work out to $400 a month considering the overwhelming majority people of employment age are not getting seriously ill with covid. It is not the right of the company to penalize you disproportionate to what it will actually cost them for each additional unvaccinated person. There are certain diseases that particular ethnicities are more prone to. Should they pay more as well?

That story is insane, but everyone needs to fall in line. So by this logic, if one parent abuses the kid but is vaccinated that is a better living situation then the other unvaccinated parent.

Stupid as vaccinated are still getting sick and you don’t know how long your vaccine will last.

Not "stupid" as the vast majority of individuals that are getting COVID and ending up with severe disease, ending up in the hospital are unvaccinated. Obviously nothing is 100%, but those vaccinated have more protection than those without and are much less likely to strain the hospital system. The unvaccinated cost the collective community more money to treat when they get sick. You can have your rights, but you should have to pay for it when it affects the communal good.

NY is now mandating masks in schools even for the vaccinated. It is because the unvaccinated are putting us all at risk. It is the truth and someone should have to bear the cost of the irresponsibility.

Please show me data of what the number is of vaccinated and what the number is of unvaccinated from the positive numbers coming out each day with Covid.

The CDC has recent data stating that unvaccinated people are about 5 times more likely to catch COVID-19 and are about 29 times more likely to be hospitalized with Covid 19.
So it seems that while the vaccines do not prevent all Covid infections they do seem to have a positive effect in reducing serve infection resulting in hospitalizations.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/08/24/cdc-study-shows-unvaccinated-people-are-29-times-more-likely-to-be-hospitalized-with-covid.html

No, broken down numbers we want. 500 tested positive today, 300 were unvaccinated, 200 vaccinated. (Example). They can EASILY do that but it would ruin their fear tactic that everyone hospitalized is unvaccinated when many don’t go to the hospital and they ALL could be positive vaccinated cases.

I haven't tried to look recently, but last month what I found was that the CDC stopped even attempting to track the split for positive cases on May 1st. But, they are supposed to be tracking hospitalized cases and deaths.

Some companies levy additional insurance premiums for overweight and obese employees.

Yes: Your BMI could affect how much you pay for your health insurance premium.

Here's why: Under the Affordable Care Act, group health plans can adopt wellness program that base people's premiums on their health status. The law says these so-called "health-contingent wellness programs" can give people discounts on their premiums – or charge them more – depending on whether they meet certain health goals, like normal weight or blood pressure, according to a recent report from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Been in the work force over 30 years and never heard of different pricing where I worked nor my spouses or anyone else I know.

The company I worked for change health insurance policies and while I didn’t use them people would take some kind of physical/prescreening test and people would get discounts if they didn’t smoke and their results within limits.
So there already polices that basically charge more for unhealthy people even if it’s not worded that way.

Giving discounts to healthy people is the same things as charging more for unhealthy people.

Many companies have done health screenings for years but I prices were always still across the board, not for individuals. I have always done them as it is good to see your numbers and you can do it right at work.

Re: Make the unvaccinated pay more....

I love the way everyone just ignores the fact that the shot does NOT prevent transmission and therefore does NOT protect others and in fact may be more dangerous since you are transmitting it without knowing since your symptoms are muted.

In the past 2 days alone I have been told that 4 different people I personally know have covid - all vaccinated - and no they are not hospitalized. However I know plenty of unvaccinated people too and none of them have covid. Anecdotal? Yes.

But it would appear that the only benefit to this shot now is that maybe you won't die - which is obviously amazing and worth it. But there is no longer any reason to force it on others.

So the only point i am making is it definitely happens now. Obviously not all companies do it but there our that do. And it won’t be surprising if more start to do it also.

It’s not just office my friend is a SAHM she has to go to the dr herself and get screened if they want a discount on their insurance.
