We just returned from a weekend in Vegas and had a great time. The hotel was good about social distancing in restaurants and the chairs at the pool. The tables also limited the number of players. There were hand sanitizer dispensors everywhere and the employees were constantly wiping everything down. We felt comfortable during our trip.

Not everyone was wearing masks, I'd say 1/2 and 1/2. We didn't wear masks 100% of the time either. In the elevators we did, at the tables I did because I felt more comfortable since people were close. The restaurants were practically empty so we didn't wear a mask there either. In the pool nobody did but we weren't close to each other and it was 100 degrees in the desert sun.

Traveling this summer?

We decided on Lake Placid. We booked a hotel on the lake, it was much cheaper than the Jersey Shore hotels I was looking at. I looked up their numbers, and they have 1 active case of Covid in their county there. So I think we will be good!

Traveling this summer?

We didn't have anything planned because family from CA and FL were supposed to come here. But since that is not happening, we decided to go to Lake George in August. We have never been there so I am excited to go explore.

We are going next week for the first time! I'm excited.

Our other trip is Block Island (just DH and I).

I had Aruba booked for August many months before this virus became what it did.

Now, we don't know what to do. The way our hotel was booked, we would lose lots of money on it. My husband wants to just go. He doesn't want the hassle of rescheduling, cancelling, losing any money on this, etc.

But I'm terrified to be honest. Public bathrooms with my daughter, having to be scared in restaurants, around other tourists, possible coronavirus checks in the airport, etc. People acting all crazy lately. I'm scared.

I have no idea what to do and we are torn

Are you still booked for Aruba? have you seen the travel requirements re: insurance and testing?

It's really not a long drive, took us 5 hours and 20 minutes. I thought it was further, but it's not. We are at High Peaks Resort on Mirror Lake and really like it! It was so inexpensive compared to Lake George, Jersey Shore prices etc. By half. I actually have 2 friends who just booked and it's around 200 a night in the the Resort building where we are, which has all new rooms as of June. We were supposed to go home today but decided to stay a 6th night. The hotel has free watersports rentals such as kayaks, paddle boards and pedal boats. It's so low key....there is a pool on the lake and my kids and I have had a blast jumping in the lake and lounging all day. I love the kayaks and paddle boards. We took a day trip to a waterfall about an hour north. Other than that we have been at the lake all day into early evening. Tons of restaurants but we have only done take out. Lots of cute stores, too.

There are 3 buildings here and we have to cross main street to get to their private waterfront area. At first I was annoyed, but it really is a non issue since. It's 2 minutes. Our room is really nice and has a lake and mountain view and there are 4 pools on property. 2 indoor and 2 outdoor. We have only done the outdoor though. They sanitize all the equipment and chairs after use as well as life jackets. And housekeeping only comes to change the garbage and give new towels (I'm okay with that). The place smells like cleaning supplies and everyone in town is following the rules of masks and sanitizing.

It's been so relaxing and nice.and the scenery is beautiful I have some photos on my personal FB of anyone wants to see! Highly recommend it here!

Re: Traveling this summer?

We just got back from 2 weeks in the Bahamas and exumas.
We did have to take a covid test before and submit to Bahamas govt for approval
the test is the pcr the one up the nose but it wasn’t bad.

How far in advance did you have to have the test done?

I'm headed to Alaska next month and they want a test done 72 hrs before arriving.
I can have it done but the results aren't coming back for 4-7 days. Chat Icon
If I don't have the results when I arrive I have to have a test done there and quarantine till the results come back.

We planned on heading out to camp the day after I arriveChat Icon

So Bahamas required the test done 7 days or less. I got tested on June 24th and had the results the next day on June 25th. Entering the Bahamas on June 29th.

I know a lot of places are requiring 72 hours before arriving which I think is smart

I paid for a private doctor to come and administer the test (Miami) And I paid extra for the expedited results just because I couldn’t take waiting and wanted to know if our group (9 people) were going to be cleared.

I had some friends who came from NY and went to an urgent care for their test which was free. They tested on a Tuesday and has results on Thursday.
