birthday photos?
Do you get professional pics taken for every birthday? I had them done (JCP so not expensive) for DD's 1st and 2nd birthday, but i'm wondering if I should bother this year with it.. Seems like everyone gets these expensive photo shoots every year for their kids

We don't. We did when he turned 1. Then at 3 we started doing every other year as a family.

birthday photos?
We do inexpensive photos 3 times a year. 2 kids birthdays, Easter and Christmas (1 kids is near Christmas). I probably spend less for 3 times than most people spend at Christmas.
We also have nursery school photos so in the near future we will stop Birthday but niwbeith a theme it’s cute and I like it.

birthday photos?
I’ve done them every year so far but only because DD’s birthday is in December. So I book a regular session instead of a mini session and do both. She’s 3 now and tbh I’ll probably do them again next year but after that it’ll just be Christmas.
If her birthday weren’t around Christmastime and I had to go twice I probably wouldn’t do them.

My kids are still young but I love professional photos. Even if it is only JCPenney (with the groupon and ebates it's almost free lol). To me the only real cost is my time, so I do it. We even do it multiple times a year lol. Like the random 4th of July shoot or Halloween in their costumes. Maybe it's because my kids won't let me take one decent photo of them...ever.
I guess it's a combination of my lack of talent for taking pics and their disinterest in me actually getting a cute pic, but I have a million pics on my phone and not one is suitable for framing. SIL gets great pics of her daughter on her phone all the time though. So I guess if I got good pics all the time that weren't professional, it might change my opinion.
Easter and Christmas we usually do with a local photographer, so that can be expensive. I'm pretty we'll stop doing that when they are older. Once they start to look out of place on the cutesie photo sets lol. Age 3 is still tiny though, so I would do it for the birthday.

I did them until my youngest was 2. We did pics last year with my niece, too, but we don't do them every year anymore.

I’ve never done professional birthday photos. Oldest is 8
ETA: When I look at my childhood photos I 100% prefer the candid real life shots over the pictures of my family posed in the JCPenney studio

birthday photos?
My daughters birthday is in November so our photographer does a combo of birthday/Christmas photos every year. We only pay $125 for like 25 combination photos so its not bad for us.

birthday photos?
I do professional family photos every year and then I also pro christmas pictures. If the family photos are taken around the holiday season then I will use them for our christmas card. My vice is photography and I love having professional photos taken of my kids. Its super expensive but its something that I really appreciate and I hang them on my walls.

My issue is, I will get a pro photo shoot in the fall, use the pictures for my Christmas card, then to be honest, never look at them again.
I don't have a ton of wall space in my home to display them and honestly, am not a fan of framed pictures on the walls. I prefer other kinds of art.
And I don't like a clutter of frames on all surfaces...In fact I don't have a ton of surfaces/furniture to display things on.
So anything more than once a year and I'd have no idea what to do with all these expensive pictures.
