Has anyone been to Disneyland? We are planning to go to California next summer and doing Disneyland while there. I was doing some info gathering online and reached out to the person who we booked our Disneyworld trip through and it seems that Disneyland is way more relaxed. I understand that dining reservations are done 60 days out, but that is it. Am I understanding it right that you book any fastpasses while you are at the park? That being the case, it doesn't matter if you stay at a Disney property (there are only 3) or off property?

Yes you book fast passes while at the park. I’ve never been but I heard it’s more relaxing! I’m planning on going soon!

we went a few years ago, I liked it more then Disney world. Much more laid back about reservations. we stayed at the best western it was a close walk to park. it included breakfast. we did not rent a car. We used uber and it worked fine.

Re: Disneyland

We did it as a day trip about 2 years ago. It was similar to Disneyworld about 10 years ago with the Fastpass system that you get by the rides (so you get ticket, ride the ones without Fastpass, ride with your FP and then go on to the next one). I honestly think the two systems are about the same. The lines were shorter but it was off peak. We arrived in the late morning and were super excited to still get on the wait list (and we got a spot in the Star Wars Jedi training) without running or being there at the crack of dawn. Kids loved it!

We stayed off site. It was only an excursion for us. The parking was in a nicely organized garage.

Restaurants were all a short walk from the entrance gates and food was good and we walked in with no reservations.

It was easier... but it’s smaller so the parade watching was a mess. We did have a great time.
